Do I REALLY need favors??

I'll be honest. I went to a wedding last weekend. There were no favors. People TALKED.

Really? I have only been to one wedding where there were favors, and it was by far the least impressive event, and I don't even know where I put that favor. the other weddings, where there were no favors, were way more memorable. I would rather spend the extra $$$ on getting better food or upgrading the DJ or something.
I wasn't planning on doing favors, and still don't. If people are going to talk, then I was probably foolish in inviting them to my wedding in the first place.

you do NOT NOT NOT need a favor!

A friend of mine attended a wedding once that had: cigar rollers, kids table with TONS of stuff to take home, slipper baskets, candy bar and favor.

When we got ready to do our wedding stuff, we chatted with her and she BEGGED Me not to do that...she said when they left that wedding they had more than they could carry & felt like gypsies.

That was the ONLY thing that she remembered about the wedding - feeling so odd leaving with more than they could carry!

Don't shoot me here, but I think you do. The candy buffet is a choice, like VH hour is. So are slipper baskets. I think that guests should receive something as a thanks for their coming and gifts. JMO

LOL One thing I've learned is NOT to be afraid to speak what I really feel here. Of course, all within reason and sure to be super-respectful since that's what I hope people are to me. I feel that if people ask for the truth, they should get it! lol I usually am in the minority around here though lol

You can never please everyone...Yes I do believe some people might say something about you not having a favor..but there will be people that think you did enough...How about doing the cigar with personalized match boxes and a little cigar cutter...the matches are cheap and I think the cigar cutter will be too...you can package it nice and that's the favor.JMO

No, you don't need anything else. Let people talk. I think it's pretty absurd that people go to the wedding for a favor.

Lord knows what people are going to say when they see that all we did was a donation favor.

People ask questions on here for HONEST opinions.. If everyone blew smoke up eachother's a$$es all day, this site would be pointless!! I respect honesty!!! I'm really torn on this topic bc I don't want to come off as a cheapo and I don't want to spend $3598475 dollars on favors either! Now I see both sides and just need to decide what I want to do...

Where did you get yours from and was it a set of 2 or 4? I really like the set of 2 but everyone swayed me against it bc 'people will only use it if there are more sets than only 2'.

I am doing a donation instead of an actual favor. I hate leaving my guests empty handed and they may complain but I dont care! My donations will do much better than some dumb chochki.

I do feel that people will talk (they always do) and it just depends how much you care and will it annoy you or your family if they ask you 'why no favor?' It totally suxxx and I hate to hear people complain so I'd prob just suck it up and get something! JMO

If you dont want to do the favor..just do a donation and put a card on very table.

The problem with favors is that the affordable ones are usually crap. Speaking for myself, I usually leave crap where I see it.

But , guests do expect to go home with something (I think candy buffet with a label on a box is fine)...

I had a major struggle with this ...

Would guests be happy with a wine glass thats printed with our a design that matches our wedding? I was planning of using them as place cards too.
