I am just thinking do I really have to give out a favor at the end of the wedding? It is enough that we pay so much for the wedding but we also need to give guests a gift for attending our wedding. The gift should be that they are attending the wedding.. I just think those favors are useless what kind of gift can I give them a candy in a box or tealight that nobody will use.. Just a thought-ban those gifts!!!

I agree. This is a great way to know that your money is being put to good use. It's all up to personal opinion. Edible favors are also popular, or if there's something that works with your theme/interests that's unique, you might want to look into that. There's a huge range of options out there. I've also been to weddings where we didn't get favors and that was cool too. I didn't even realize it until someone else pointed it out.

I don't think favors are necessary, but unfortunately most people do. Personally, I wouldn't even realize if I didn't get a favor at a wedding.

the whole point of the favor is because most guest give you a monetary gift which is suppose to cover the cost of their plate. so the favor becomes a token gift.
IMO i don't think that you can completely cut out favors. you can find decent favors for a pretty cheap price if you are trying to keep cost down or just do a donation. although i think a donation could end up costing you more money.

i agree, and its not really a gift for them to come to your wedding, theyre doing it for you because you invited them, plus they are bringing you an actual gift (aka money), so the favor id to really thank them for their gift and for being a part of your day and taking their time out to come and celebrate your marriage

no i agree a lot of the times they are dust collectors thats why people sometimes do the donation thing or something edible.... a few of the girls are doing these huge, amazing cupcakes! they look soooo freak good, i think jackie (cloudnine) is doing those

Dont throw rocks at me for this one... but i think that favors are only dust collectors when you don't give good/practical favors. For me, favors are very important. For the wedding I want to give maybe a espresso cup set, wine glasses or a serving platter as the favor because it is something you can use on a daily basis. I guess it boils down to personal preference...

I would just do a donation favor....its more practical and guests will appreciate that more then something they won't use.

My g/f did donations as favors 2 years ago. I think we will probably do the same, since I'm not huge into favors that people just throw away. Edible favors are cute but I just have way too much food at my wedding to begin with.

So maybe my guest won't notice that there is no favor I just went to a wedding in SI and the favor was a donation-few of the guest did not even got the document state where the donation went. Maybe it is because in a traditional Polish wedding there is no favors so maybe my guests won't mind. We will see-probably will need to discuss this with FH.

ITA I think it's a nice way of thanking people for coming; I think it leaves a good taste in people's mouths.
Then again, I really haven't been to many weddings yet, so I don't have the infamous collection of un-used wedding favors just yet. Maybe in a few years I'll be singing a different tune.

I did a donation to the ASPCA and they provide the cards. We attached them to small tulle bags of M&M's that we had personalized at the website. Everyone likes candy & puppies lol.
