Do I really need to hand cancel my invtes?

Do I really need to hand cancel my invtes?

The post office said no, but I don't want them smashed when they arrive to my guests.

What did you do???
If you didn't, do you know how they ended up?

Thanks

We hand cancelled ours. But ours had a bow so the envelope was lumpy and definitely would not have worked through the machine.

FH actually went to the post office and hand cancelled them all by himself! lol

I didn't think it was necessary & they were fine...but I did recieve some with a black mark along them (for other weddings). I guess that's what the inner envelope is for!

NO NO NO!
I don't think it is necessary.

I hand cancelled, I think it just looks so much nicer. You go through all of that effort to get a beautiful inviation and have it calligraphered or addressed nicely and then the post office gets a hold of it and ruins it...it was definitely worth the 10 minutes it took. I'd say go for it!

I am going to be hand cancelling mine. We have a pretty bow and it is pocketfold I don't want them botching anything up!

I have pocketfold invites and those biatches cost me $250+ alone in stamps!! I didn't hand cancel and they were fine. My guests don't care about what the envelope looks like. The invite wasn't damaged or anything either.

I did but I spent alot and I didn't want them to get ruined. If you are concerned they won't arrive to guests the way they left then I would do so.

I did, but only because there was no line at the post office & I handed them to the guy at the counter & asked him to hand-cancel them & he said he'd take care of it. It was wasy so I figured I might as well. I doubt it's necessary though.

Ive gotten invites that werent hand canceled and there was a big black line right down the middle. I had them canceled-there was no way I was spending all that money to have that be teh first thing people see. My post office wouldnt let me have the stamp, they did it for me

I did not do it because my invites are flat, but the postal clerk did it for me !
I didn't even ask her to.

The invites are put thru a machine anyway, to sort them by zip code.

I just sent mine out yesterday and I had them hand canceled! I don't know if it is necessary but I did it just as a precautionary.

When i brought them to the post office the man behind the counter took them and told me when he freed up he would hand cancel them for me. . . he did and since we had a stamp with our faces he made sure not to cancel our faces. . . .

i asked the post office to hand cancel and they said they would - but i honestly don't know if they did or not!! no one said anything about them arriving ruined or anything so i guess it all worked out ok.

I hand canceled most of them, but about ten my dad sent out and he just dropped them in a blue mailbox. They arrived quickly and I heard no complaints about them being ruined.

It depends on how bulky your invites are....mine were totally fine.

Same here! I went to the post office early afternoon. There were no other customers there. The woman behind the counter said that she would hand-cancel them for me. I said 'Thank you...Thank you...Thank you'. She said that they might still go through the cancelling machine.

I know that they didn't because I saw the invitation that my FMIL received...and there was only the hand-cancelled mark.
