For those of you who used your computer for doing the calligraphy on your invites, I have some questions:
What kind of printer did you use? Laser, Ink Jet?
How many extra envelopes did you order? And how many did you end up using?
Did you have an issues with schmeering because of the thickness of the envelopes?
I think my Aunt is doing the handwritten calligraphy for the inner envelopes, but I'm hoping to get away with using the computer for the outer envelopes. I'm just concerned about printer jams, etc.

I used a laser printer...ordered 25 extra envelopes and used about 10 of them b/c of jamming. i cut paper to the exact size of the envelope for trials! i had no problem with smearing, they came out beautiful!!! we used print shop, it was so easy.

ink jet

we are sending about 80-90, bought 150.

yes and paper jams depending how one prints. keep the flaps open when printing, it decreases the jams and schmearing...

i depends on the printer, paper stock, patience and computer savviness. beware of the printable areas and margins! i am having a tough time with my printer and therefore am using my fathers' instead (also an inkjet). if i had the option, i would probably use a laser printer instead...

Re: Do-it-Yourself Computer Calligraphy on Invites
I have an ink jet and it wouldn't take my envelopes - the paper was thick. But I used my DH's (his was a photo printer, worked much better because glossy photo paper is thicker then regular paper).
My guest list was 151, so I ordered 175 (additional invitations were in sets of 25) invitations, plus I ordered and additional 25 outer envelopes - since I was addressing them myself and was worried about messing up.
I had no issues with schmeering because I feed one envelope at a time - it too quite some time, but it was worth it.
I did the inner and outer, but I only did the inner if it was someone with an 'Guest'. I didn't do it for a 'Mr. and Mrs.', because I thought it was self explantory on the outer envelope.
