Do not buy gas on May 19!!

Someone sent me this email:


IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.



AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.



THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED 'STICK IT UP THEIR
behind'
DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF
GASOLINE THAT DAY.



THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.



WAITING ON THIS ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS
NOT
GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!



WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.



SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE

KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF

Don't you think if this scheme actually worked and they did lose billions they'd just turn around and jack up the prices even more?????

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

This is one of the DUMBEST chain emails I have gotten in a long time. It makes absolutely no sense. So what if I don't buy gas on the 19th. Ill instead buy it on the 20th.

I don't know about anyone else... but I usually buy my gas when the needle is at 'E'. Anyone else?

But even if people DO do it, there will probably be really high sales on May 18th and 20th.. and they will make their billions back anyway.
I think people should cut down on driving as much as possible (like carpooling). Wouldn't that make a bigger impact if they lost money every day?

LOLOLOL me too...

This email has been going around for years. It's a hoax. Ignore it and whoever sends you this stuff.

The better option that I've seen which sounds more legit, is that if everyone cut their gas consumption by only 1 gallon per week it would be equal to what we purchase from Kuwait in a month.

If we were to be more concious about our unneccesary gas consumption we'd be less dependant. It may not result in lower prices, but would help conserve resources. And if they see a continuing drop in demand it may be equated with price gouging and prices could drop to entice us to use more. If you can't make the profit in high prices, make it up in volume sales.

I only get gas in my little Civic once every 10-14 days so chances are I will be participating anyway.
