Do Not Call Registry in NY State

I read a few posts regarding telemarketers and wanted to share this with you. NYS has a Do Not Call Registry as of 4/01/01. Once your telephone number is on the registry, all companies (that you don`t have a previous relationship with) must check the registry before making any unsolicited telemarketing calls. To put your number on the registry, visit the website @ https://www.nynocall.com/index.html or call the Consumer Protection Board at 1.800.697.1220. I`ve been on the registry for almost a year now and my TM calls are down substantially! The companies that you already do business with (like a bank, phone company or a catalogue you`ve made purchases from) have a right to call you and need to be contacted directly (you telling them during a telemarketing call qualifies)to put your name on their internal 'Do not call' lists.
