i said NO chicken dance and NO hokey pokey. we also said no macarena but my MOM requested that one. he came up to me and said, 'Jo, it's your mom. I told her no, but i wanted to check with you.' He was so good. I told him it was okay, and literally my mom got every single woman on the dance floor for it!!!!!!

Re: DO NOT play songs for the DJ?
We are going to tell our DJ that he can play anything but Rap, Reggea, Techno, Chicken Dance. That is all I can think of right now.

Re: DO NOT play songs for the DJ?
i have to say, i felt the same way about the instructional songs. we did bar most of the really bad ones (congo, chicken dance, hokey pokey). but we told Michael (Music by Michael) that if someone requested some of the line dances that that might be okay but to check with us first. Let me tell you, our guests had a blast with the electric slide, the grease thing and the macarena. I NEVER wanted those, BUT i would rather have everyone on the dance floor than everyone sitting on their butts at the table!!! they liked it so much that i think my MIL requested the electric slide a second time! go figure. if you had told me that before, i would have said NO WAY. But the day of, everyone was having fun and that is what counts. just make sure your DJ knows how you feel before hand, and that you trust him to use his judgment the day of!!

Re: DO NOT play songs for the DJ?
I will survive...the only one on my Do Not Play list. I told the only dj that we interviewed that if that song gets played at my wedding, someone will NOT survive!

Re: DO NOT play songs for the DJ?
No Macarena, no Electric Slide. They can only play the chicken dance if they have the Italian lyrics. Maybe the electric slide. And it must be understood that if I don't want to dance, don't make me.

Re: DO NOT play songs for the DJ?
I went to a wedding recently where the couple told the dj to take NO requests - they gave a pretty extensive OK to Play list, and that was it.
