DO NOT REGISTER @ TARGET! **UPDATE**

DO NOT REGISTER @ TARGET! **UPDATE**

we did and we regret it! long story short- we registered for a certain coffee maker... got TWO of them at my shower... went there tonight to return one for store credit and they wouldnt let us!!!! we didnt have the friggin gift receipt because my cousin who bought it for us didnt give us one... well even with our registry in our hands which showed the thing was fulfilled they wouldnt do anything for us!! isnt that the point of a registry? we were treated very unprofessionally and had to stand around and wait for 3 different people to try and help us before they would get the real manager for us to speak to... it was ridiculous! all that over a $50 coffee maker! basically told us there was nothing they could do for us and sent us home with it.... i gave it to my mom, she had been wanting one anyway. but i was sooooo mad! i will NEVER register there again! and i advise none of you to either! if you NEED to then please tell your friends and family to staple the damn gift receipt to the item before giving it to you...

**UPDATE**

i sent target an e-mail:

Comments: I am writing to tell you that I am extremely unhappy with the service, or lack thereof, i received at the Commack store on Veterans Memorial Hwy tonight. I received a double of the coffee maker I had on my registry, so I went to the store to return it for store credit. It took 3 different employees trying to help me before they got the actual manager to come over and still were not able to do anything for me. They said since I did not have a receipt or gift receipt they could not take the coffee maker back. I think that is completely ridiculous.. it was a gift! I even gave them a copy of my registry which showed the coffee maker on it and the word 'FULFILLED' next to it. I am extremely unhappy with this situation and if there is nothing that can be done for me I will definitely never be shopping at Target ever again. I was a very good customer to your store for years, but the way I was treated tonight may change that.

Re: DO NOT REGISTER @ TARGET!

Unfortuntately, I've heard this story from quite a few people now.

Thanks for the post, though - we have to keep spreading the word, so girls stay away from Target! It's ridiculous how they treat customers who register there for hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of stuff.

I have heard terrible things about the target registry, I would never register there. You should print out this thread with all the terrible things we have to say about target registries and send it to the top 10 'high-ups' at target along with a letter explaining your story.

have they sent anything back to you yet? I would keep harassing them until they do something for you. I know its only a coffee pot but to us its the principle that you can screw around with things. Its not like you are askiong for money back!!

Yeah I have heard that from other people before. I think its crazy! How can they not take things back. If anyone has to return stuff there again I would just bring it someone else and see if they stock it. I know Walmart is more lenient with what they take back,

Re: DO NOT REGISTER @ TARGET! **UPDATE**

I have heard of this before and I think it's so wrong. When I was in high school I worked a customers service desk and we took everything back reciept or not. We even took things that the customer clearly damaged and we took it back. If they didnt' have a reciept we gave them store credit for the lowest selling price. I mean the fact you had a registry should have been proof enough. There are tons of stores that don't give gift reciepts but simply tell you it's not a problem when there is a registry at the store.
