Do not use Long Island Vineyard Tours!!!!
Do not sign up for a Long Island wine tour with this company! I am the Bachelorette and yesterday 23 ladies and I spent two hours on the side of the Long Island Expressway after our bus caught on fire!!! Our LI Vineyard tour bus picked us up and 45 minutes into our trip the compressor melted and our bus started to smoke and went up in flames! Our driver Jimmy was smart enough to pull to the side of the road BUT ONLY AFTER a good Samaritan pulled up next to our bus and alerted us to the flames. My cousin is a firefighter and was able to put out the fire herself. The police arrived and they suggested we did not get back on the bus as it was unsafe. Mike, the dispatcher, argued with the maid of honor and said we were being difficult and since we would not get back on the smokey bus, we would have to wait on the side of the LIE service road for two hours for another bus from their company. We tried to work with them and asked if we were to take either cabs, limos, or a bus from another company if they would reimburse us. But they refused. They said our only option was to wait for another bus from their company. So 24 girls sat outside in the heat for TWO HOURS. Needless to say we only made it to two out of the four wineries we paid for and after fighting for hours on the phone with the MOH, they only reimbursed us $25 a person. I am very disappointed with their response to the situation and if they had offered to pay for cabs or a limo from another company to at least get us out there quicker it would have been fine; or at least refund us our $ from the two wineries we didn't make it two and for the two hours of bus service we didn't receive would have been acceptable as well.
The only highlight of the trip was Vineyard 48. When they heard of our situation they gave us free tastings of their wines and kept us entertained. Dale and his staff were wonderful and so gracious and I highly recommend their Riesling. They turned a very stressful day into a fun one!
