Just curious...will guests really stay til 1am?? I mean I know friends would probably stay, but what do you all think?
Married ladies - If you had an evening wedding, I'd love to know how it went with guests for you? Did you feel like it was empty towards the last hour???
We are getting married on a Saturday and we basically have the place from 5:30pm-1am. As of right now, we have this timeline... 5:30-6:30 - Hospitality 6:30-7:00 - Ceremony 7:00-8:00 - Cocktail 8:00 - 1:00 - Reception
Should we move everything down a half hour, so reception ends at 12:30 (only 30 minutes of hospitality)? Or have no hospitality and move everything down an hour?
Just nervous that 1am is too late.

I'm interested in this as well. Right now my VH is planned for 12-1 and I'm worried people will leave.

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
we had the hall for 6 hours and a lot of the guests left after VH. I realize now why the MD was holding off on telling the guests about VH. I asked them to do it earlier than planned b/c I didn't want people to be waiting for it only to realize these suckas left right after they got their desserts. But my friends, coworkers, sibs, and young family members did stay til 1 AM so it wasn't a total loss. I guess I didn't need the oldies passing out b/c it was pass their bed times. But yea, if you do have it til 1, try to hold off as long as possible for dessert b/c once people get their fill, they're OUT!

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
Our party ended at 1:30 AM and nearly everyone stayed. To help facilitate this, we rented a coach bus to pick guests up and drop them back off in Queens, where most of our family is from.
ETA: Our wedding was on a Friday night.
ETA: Between saying goodbye and packing up, we didn't leave the RH until 2:15 AM. I believe the coach bus actually left around 2 AM.

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
ours ended at 12:30 and 99% of people stayed til the end. some elderly guests left early but that was it.
i dont think the half hour would make a difference, but you know your guests best. if you think family/friends will want to leave then bump it up 30 mins so it ends at 12:30am.
edit: i think it also depends on the night of week. A saturday i would say it def wont matter. if its a friday then perhaps end earlier....jmo

ours ended at 12, and nearly everyone was gone by 1130 lol. We actually ended the wedding at 1130 so we had time to pack everything up and get situated before the shuttle came at 12.

I would shorten the hospitality and have it end at 12:30. I actually find it annoying when it takes forever for them to put dessert out. This is my opinion of course. I actually think it would be best to just have the VH a little earlier and afterwards consider it a 'dance party' with your closest friends and relatives, and let the other guests enjoy the VH a little earlier so they can go home. Have the DJ play your favorite songs towards the end of the night so you will still have a ball. It really wont matter if some other people leave.

This is the breakdown we are having at SC except our CH will be an hour and a half long.
even though our wedding ended at 1am, people were lagging around til almost 2am! There wasn't another wedding there so Russo's staff was awesome about it. We were exhausted and wanted to get to the hotel, but we had tons of people hanging around talking to us!
I say go for it!

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
People started leaving my reception at 11. It ended at 11:30. I'm glad we didn't have an extra hour bc I don't think enough people stayed for it to be worth it.

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
I think it really depends on the guests. I've been to some where people stayed nearly til the end, and another where people were gone by 11:30. Do what is best for you.

Re: Do people really stay til 1am?
Yeah, I guess it all depends on the guests...I think I'm afraid because I've been to a wedding once where it ended at 11 and half the people were gone by like 930-10!! Before VH too. It was kinda sad to me and I don't want that happening to us.
I figure 1am isn't bad for a Saturday either. I really want everyone to stay, but even more I want everyone to be able to have VH!

i think it really depends on your guests
my friend's wedding ended at 11pm and people started leaving at 10:30pm. you know your crowd so if you think people will want to party hardy until 1am, then go for it. mine will end at 1am.
