Do the copies you need to bring with you to get marriage license need to be the certified ones??
I had to give my priest all of the certified copies of my FH's last marriage's marriage license, his baptismal certificate (which is all he had to show his birth date since he lost his birth certificate), and his divorce decree, which he needs for OUR marriage license.
I have the COPIES of everything, but will that be adequate for us to go get OUR marriage license since the priest kept the certified copies?

I believe they do have to be certified copies.

I think so as well, perhaps you can get the original back from the priest and return it with the marriage license when you get it?

save yourself the headache and call - i found that different town halls had different requirements and since it doesnt matter where you get it (as long as its in NY) find one whos requirements you can accomodate
