Do we have any champion HS/COLLEGE athletes on the 09 board?

Hmmm....all of my championships/accomplishments were before I was in High School. A shoulder injury at age 13 and surgery at age 16 for my shoulder prevented me from competing in high school and college.

These are my national rankings. I also have many state (empire state games) and regional accomplishments, but i don't want to bore everyone too much!

Baton twirling:
Nationally ranked 2nd in Baton Twirling at age 8 for solo 1 baton and 2 baton. Ranked 1st place for 3 of our group routines.

Swimming:
Nationally ranked 6th for the 100 yd butterfly for age 10 and under.
Nationally ranked 3rd for our 200 IM relay team.

Flatwater sprint kayaking: Age 13 and under.
Nationally ranked 3rd place (bronze) for 500m single event.
Nationally ranked 2nd for 500m and 1000m 2 person kayak and 4 person kayak events.

I was such a quick learner when I was younger, lol.
I think they sent out a flyer in kindergarten for baton twirling. So I asked my mom to put me in it. My 2nd year in it, they put me on the travel team. At age 8, I was kind of bored with it so I started swimming in 3rd grade..again another flyer. Moved around to a few teams until I found a coach I clicked with. Became very competitive with it. Practice before school, after school. They were almost trying to get me on the Olympic path. Then my shoulder started to get very injured. Be so young doing such repetitive motions, overstretched the tendon in my shoulder, so I had to stop swimming.
Then, my mom talked to a parent of another swimmer at swim practice who was in charge of a kayaking program on the east coast and thought I would be good at it. Started training for that since swimmers do well in that sport also. But my shoulder couldn't take that after 3 years of competing. And that's about it, lol.

Now I do nothing. Maybe just work out from time to time. But I wish I could get competitive in a sport again. I might try to do mini triathalons in the future. I am just a horrible runner, lol...so that might not work.

yea we still play all the time..he actually broke my finger 2 months ago playing basketball lol its ok though its what we love to do

Hey Mary! No I'm still awake lol....I cant sleep lately ugh. I basically took dance lessons since I was 3, then taught dance to kids and adults, then wanted to continue in college so I tried out for the dance/kickline team and made it. It was so much fun! We did the halftime shows for the football and basketball teams. I never did plays because i dont think Im a very good actor lol.

Yea college was definitely busy!! It was a lot of fun doing the halftime shows. I went to Suny Albany- loved it but the winters were freezing! Penn state is a good school- I know a few people that went there and loved it!!
