stay with me here...My FSIL (and one of my BM's) is married to FH's brother (and best man)
Should we invite her parents to the wedding?
FH thinks yes since they are techincally part of 'his' family.
They have been married for 2 years, and we personally have seen them 1x since the wedding. My point is that they are not really part of our lives, we don't get together for holidays, parties, etc...
I have friends that HAVE invited their in-laws parents to their weddings, but usually b/c they have known the parents a lot longer, and have more of a relationship with them or the couple has one of more children and the get-togethers usually involve the grandparents

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
we are inviting my SIL parents, but i work with her, and see them often. but in your case, if you never see them , i probably wouldnt invite them. if you have a B list, you can put them on it. i had to cut people off , it happens

I don't think you have to invite them. My SIL did not invite my parents to her wedding and my sister did not invite my ILs to her wedding. I think it's ok not to invite them because you're not close to them.

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
we invited my BIL's parents cause we've known them for years. i say if your FH wants to invite them for family reasons I would invite them. the more the merrier.

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
FSIL actually asked us to invite her in-laws. We didn't because in the 5 years I've been with FH and throughout the 16 years I've known FH, I have met them twice, once at a wedding and once at a funeral, so I didn't think it was right to ask my parents to pay for them when we hardly know them.

We invited them only b/c FH is really close with them and they are in our BP...

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
I would say you shouldn't have to invite them BUT as a bride who tied the knot and is doen with the madness (and yes it IS madness lol) you have to pick your battles. If this is the beginning stages for you of the planning and your FH really wants to invite them for whatever his reasons, I would let this one go and invite them because there will come points when you REALLY need to have your way on something that is much more important and you will have much steadier ground to stand on if you can say sweetly, 'You honey I did defer to you on the parents thing...can't we try to make it happen. Its REALLY important to me. '
This is really a minor issue because they ARE 'family' even if not close family. And if you invite them then you can use it against the argument that you shouldinvite some totally random person (Which WILL happen! TRUST me!) in the future, like the third cousin twice removed. Consider it ammunition!

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
We did!! But, that's because we are very truly close to them. We see every couple of months. If you don't even see them once a year. I would say put them on the B list until room opens up to invite them.

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
In my family it is customary to invite all of the siblings and cousin's in-laws.
i know that sounds crazy to some people but that is how our family has always done it

Re: Do we invite FSIL's parents?
We are inviting both of my brother's in laws because we do see them a few imes a year and they are family. We are not inviting my FSIL's in laws because they are mean and rude to everyone and we don't like them.
