I'd almost rather have an appointment there but no, you just go in and hope there isn't a huge line!

you go to the town clerks office...make sure you check what time their open till---I've noticed that most of them close at 4:00 or 4:15 and won't take people close to the time they close....Anywho---all you need is the money, photo id...maybe another form of id---but you don't need an appointment for the clerks office in queens or in Hempstead--you just walk in and tell them you need your marriage license--you'll fill out an application and wait to be called so they can type it in the computer...it costs $40 on LI and $35 in Queens--but in Queens you need a money order...I'm not sure whether or not you can pay cash on LI-you'd need to check that out......

We just showed up too. But we called before we went to check out their hours. We went to Hempstead. I think they close at 4:45 and the latest they told us was to get there by 4:00.

i just got mine today in queens..and we went there at 7.45 ..we were the 2nd pair there and after that more came,..........we finished early

I went on a friday afternoon-in smithtown- no appt. no crowds and the woman was really nice
