We did just for the wedding and let me tell you for us it was a horrible idea. I had to change our wedding account to just my name. Thank god we have seperate checking and savings accounts.

we are joint at one credit union... we still need to get to the other bank and add my name... I have a wedding account on LI where the wedding money is and just haven't gotten a chance to add FH on yet...

we still have seperate accounts, but then we have a joint savings account which is linked to both accounts... i just pull out of that into my checking account when i write checks for various things.

I love online banking!

ETA that would be checks for the wedding - not for me

we don't have a joint account yet, but will do that after we're amrried. We do have a joint savings account...'the wedding fund'

we have a joint savings and checking account that we call the wedding fund....then we each have our seperate accounts....but once we are married...it will only be one account

Same here. We actually set up a joint savings account before we got engaged. I put in the difference between my rent (MUCH LOWER) and what I would pay if we split his rent. It was a sort of forced saving for when I moved in with him. I refused to officially move in until we were engaged. I say officially because most of my stuff was already there once I moved in! It made it that much easier onthe actual moving day!!!
I still don't pay rent but I do pay some other bills (cable, phone, electric, etc). We each also have our own savings/checking accounts. The joint account is linked to each of our personal accounts so we each pay our wedding bills from the joint account and pay our 'own' bills from our own accounts.

We set up a joint checking account when we got engaged. We've been putting $ away every paycheck and also paying vendors from there.

I moved him over to my checking and savings a few months after we got engaged/ moved in together, which was about the same time. We chose my bank b/c his was just terrible. Living together and trying to split the bills evenly down the middle, and whose name goes on what bill, etc got REALLY difficult, so we decided to combine everything. It is much easier now.

Yes, his mom urged us to for cash/money gifts and she was right. I would be surprised if all their fancy friends even knew my name since all the checks are to Mr. and Mrs. His First and I have not even decided I am taking his name. Lazy if you ask me but it make depositing a whole lot easier. It is our honeymoon fund.

We just opened up a joint account Thursday! We each out a certain amount fo our paychecks into the account.
We got our check today! Kind of funny to see both our names on a check

Yes.

It all happened because we are looking for a house. I belong to Teachers Federal Credit Union. They have very good rates. However, you cannot get a mtge with them unless you are a member. FH could only qualify for an account if another member (me ) was on it. And the rest is history...
