we have a joint checking. the savings account we opened up, we call it the wedding fund.

We have a joint savings account. I use my checking account to pay vendors.
Once we're married we will merge all our accounts

So funny you ask this because my FH and I were just talking about this the other day...we haven't really talked too in depth about where our money should be pooled and who pays for what etc...we decided we are going to open a joint checking and put a percentage of our checks into it to pay for bills, rent etc...as for savings...we are going to get a joint savings as well, but not this moment. Our salaries are a little different and we have to see what can go where.
I asked a bunch of my married/engaged friends as well and the majority didn't get joint accounts until right after they were married

We just put his name on my acct a week ago. Both checking and savings. Plan on closing the acct he has on his own and moving his direct deposit to mine, uh I mean ours .
It also makes MY life easier b/c I am 'bookkeeper' for both of us and we don't live together now, so Sundays in 'bill organize' day.

We have a wedding fund together. Everything we received so far is in there and we put it towards paying off the vendors.

I do send him $$$ for the wedding to his PayPal account and I have an ING savings account for the wedding.

after our engagment party we opened a savings account for money that we get together for the honeymoon. everything else is seperate until we get married

We fully intned to, but we are getting married in 10 days & we haven't gotten a chance to yet!
I guess we should so we can deposit any monetary wedding gifts.
Since around the time we got engaged, we consider all of our money 'ours' , so we just pay billsfrom which ever account is easiest.

fyi - to use paypal to xfer money is not cheap depending on transaction amount
we always shared money/account info single checking due to direct deposit (2 direct deposit cant go to 1 account (we work together) )
We have a joint account 'wedding fund' which we use to pay everything for the wedding. We have separate checking and savings that we'll combine after the wedding.
