Do you and your FH/DH/FW/DW share the same political views?
Do you debate things often, if at all? Do either one of you drive each other crazy with their party affliations?
OR is it something personal.. private and really not spoken of?
I'll go first..
She's a very centralist Democrat.. and I'm former Republican who left the party and is now a registered Independent.
We sometimes debate back and forth.. and find we agree waaaay more than we disagree.

DH and i have agreed to disagree on these issues. If we didn't, we'd be fighting 24-7.

There was actually a post about this on the BHB board a while ago. FH and I agree on the ends but not the means - we agree on most major issues but don't agree what politicians should be in office to get to that end (i.e. I'm a big Bush supporter, he's way far from it).

hmmm.. that puzzles me.. why put this topic there? I never look at the BHB anymore unless I happen to have a wedding question.

Ummm..we mostly agree as we're both on the same side of the political spectrum. I think I'm quite a bit more leftist than he is. We agree to disagree. I voted for Ralph Nader in 2000, He for Al Gore. I knew Al gore would be elected, and I was happy about that, but this 2 party politics is BS, especially considering the HUGE right wing shift this country has seen since the 1970's. I think Nader has it right, but that's just me. He's content to align himself with the current moderatist democratic party, wheras..well, let's put it this way, Bubba's my boyfriend, but Mike Moore is my hero.

I'm a very active Democrat, and worked in the White House while Clinton was in office. FH is not even registered to vote!! I told him he had to register--I don't care how he votes, but I made sure he registered and will be voting!! We don't discuss politics that much anyway though, but he has democratic views...

We do share the same views for the most part. The only problem is that we like to play devil's advocate. It gets us into some great debates.

Yup, we have same views on just about everything. We're not the type to talk politics and what not, though. We vote and that's as far as our political involvement goes on all fronts. I just fee like I'll never know the real truths about our government, and in return, I feel powerless. Why waste good conversation on it, then? (simplistic and overgeneralize, I know, but in the core of me, that's how I feel)

no...we never agree....and unfortunately he is a 'Band Wagon' kinda guy..... he will go with the popular opinion, regardless of what it is, whereas I dissect evrything to death before committing to a perspective.
It gets tense in our house anytime there is anything political going on.
I have to DRAG him to vote every year.... he drives me crazy.

I am very firm in my political beliefs, DH could care less so we never really argue about it. I get the 'that's nice' honey answer a lot.
