Do you believe in angels?

Do you believe in angels?

I got this idea from Anna's post about the tire tonight and her 'guardian angels'...

Do you feel that you have a guardian angel and why?

When I was about 6 years old, we went to the lighting of the rockefeller center tree. It was a mess! We got caught up in a stampede basically and almost got killed. My grandmother who was about 74 at the time was almost trampled and my mom had my sister who was only 2 years old in her arms and there was no one to pick me up. Of course it was freezing and I had so many layers of clothes on which made it even harder. People were screaming, bleeding, everything, barricades fell on top of people and the cops stood and watched.

Out of no where, a man picked me up and put me on his shoulders. He was about 24 my mom says and he told my mom that he would keep me safe. My mom was scared because obviously she didnt know this man but she had no other choice. He held me for what it felt like for hours and my mom, sister and grandmother got out before we did.

Finally, we made it to Radio City and there was my family safe and sound. MY mom says she offered him money, which she still didnt feel was enough for saving her daughters life, and he wouldnt take it. He gave her his address so they could keep in touch and as we walked away, his address blew out of my moms hands and into the wind. How ironic?

I always believed he was my guardian angel here on Earth. HE saved my life and always made me believe in angels.

NOw that my moms fiance is gone, I also get feelings sometimes that he is our own guardian angel in heaven...

Anyone else have any stories like this? Believe in guardian angels??

Re: Do you believe in angels?

Noreen,

I am going to answer this but it is going to look a poor me post.

My Mother's father was the reason that I breathed everyday.I loved that man more than anything else in this world. He was always there for me and miss him every day and every minute. I am sad that he will not be here to see me get married. Every night before I go to bed I think good night Grandpa I love you!

I thought that he would watch over me. I think for awhile he did guide me.I don't know. My drive always came from wanting to make him proud. Well to be honest with all that has gone wrong in the last 5 months I am sorry I wish I could say I do anymore. I wish I could feel like he was looking out for me and for what was best for me.

I do believe that people are brought into our lives for a reason. Sometimes momentarily sometimes permantely. There was a poem about Friends and season and I believe that.

So I guess I believe in fate more now

he says no angels in the physical sense.. but there was a time when he was playing baseball and the hitter hit the ball it hit where the mound met the grass and bounced up and hit his face.. the emergency room doctor said if it had hit an inch in any dirrection different from where it hit.. an inch higher would have fractured eye socket.. to the rightwould have broken the nose.. lower would have knocked out teeth and to the left would have broken his jaw.. but it managed to hit him right in the middle of all the bad things that could have happend.. that happened on a tuesday.. by friday people didnt believe he was hit he looked soo much better.... he thinks that something was probably helping him out there.....

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I believe in stuff like this. Years ago there was an article in a magazine, I think it was Time Mag, anyway, it was a whole thing on angels.(as best as I can remeber) The one story that stands out for me is a about a married couple who had spent 25 years together. The wife was diagnosed with cancer. They fought the best they could and they were losing according to the dr. They said she only had a few weeks left at most. They decided to spend there last days together at home. The hsuband sat down and was talkng to his wife about how he did not now how he was going to make it without her. There was a knock at the door. The husband answered and the man standing there asked for his wife. He took him to her. The woman described him as the darkest man she ever saw, black as night with the bluest eyes like the sky and he was huge. She never saw anyone that tall up close. He put his hands on her and said all would be well. You shall live. He left and they went to the dr the following week as she seemed to be improving. There was no trace of cancer in her body nor was there a trace of the man.

I do!!! I was one time at my Fathers grave site & I was missing him so bad. I couldn't help but be hysterical. I was by myself. All of a sudden this woman started talking to me seeing if I was ok! I just told her that I missed him so much. And it's not getting any easier. She just consoled me & told me things would be ok. Then out of NOWHERE she patted my head! My Father used to do that to me! It freaked me out in a good way. I went home & told my Mother. She even agreed that normally someone would give a hug or a handshake. That was all the proof I needed to know that he heard me!!

Also my son has great conversations w/ the angels!! I find him talking to people who I can't see! There is one spot in our bedroom that he constantly points at. I brought him over there but they went away!

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I believe too. I have two stories..

One was a day at the beach with my father and sister. We were really young, about 4 & 5. There was a storm coming but we begged for 5 more minutes. Well, in less then 5 minutes the sky went black and there was one of those water spouts (similar to a tornado but on the water). Luckily we were on the beach and not in the water. My sister and I could barely walk because of the wind. My father grabbed my sister and some nice man carried me to the hotel on the boardwalk. (Similar story Noreen:)

My other one story is really with my mother and sister. They were visiting me in Philly and decided to take a ride to AC that evening. On the way home, they hit a patch of black ice and lost control of the car, spun out and hit the guard rail. They got out of the car and were standing there shocked when they swore they heard someone say get out of the way - just as they got to the other side of the guard rail, 3 more cars spun out and slammed into my mom's car. They would have been very seriously injured if not killed if they didn't get out of the way.

ETS - Tracy that brought tears to my eyes.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

Years ago when I still lived at home my mother brought home a OUJIA board and said lets play with this and I was like are you sure? I was younger and way into stuff like that. I told my Mom we should contact someone we know someone close to us so she said (in jest) how about my father so I say OK. So I am calling for my grandfather( whom I never met, he died before I was born) and the thingy starts to move. It spells out my name this way STACY now on my birth certificate there is no e in my name I just added it when I was younger because I liked it better with an e. But everyone including my parents spells it with an e. So I then ask to have anything to tell your daughter and it spells out I LOVE YOU. My mother throws the OUJIA board and starts yelling at me for doing that to her and I'm like mom I didn't do anything. She was so mad and I know that we were really talking to my grandpa

Re: Do you believe in angels?

ok here is my crazy story

when I was pg with Justin, I was 3 centimeters dilated for 3 weeks, but about 6 weeks before my due date. The night of Decemeber 6th, at 3:00am (so actually it was Dec. 7th) a car alarm went off outside my house and woke everyone up. Eventually it went off and we got back to sleep. Then I had this crazy dream, about how my whole family was on the Titanic and it was sinking. We had the choice to get off or not. Everyone decided to get off except my grandparents (who are both deceased). They wanted to stay on together, and die peacefully together in each others arms. As the ship is going down, we were able to see them through a two-way mirror. We are all waving, and blowing kisses. At this point, my Pop Pop looks at me, gives me the thumbs up sign, and says Pumpkin you can do it. - and I delievered Justin 12 hours later!

Re: Do you believe in angels?

Well, this didn't happen to me, but this happened to my ex boyfriend, and I really, honestly believe him. When we started dating, his father had recently died of cancer about 2 months before. He was a lot older than me, I was 21 and he was 30, and I had known him for years. He was one of those very tough guys who never showed when something would get to him, and although he was having a hard time with his dad's death, it wasn't apparent in his demeaner or anything. So one night he comes over my house at like 3am and he was paler than anything and he was shaking. So he sat down and told me that he had something crazy to tell me. So he said that he was sleeping in his room and he woke up and his father was sitting in the chair across from his bed. He said his father spoke to him and that he told him he was ok. So I was like, well, maybe you were dreaming. And he said no, because when he got up to leave the room, his mother came out of her room and said she just saw his father, as well, and that he's been in her room every night since he died. I got the weirdest chills ever, and I believe them. I think it's totally possible.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

One night when my grandparents were sleeping, (many years ago, over 50 years ago) in the middle of the night, my grandmother wakes up to a womans voice loudly reciting the hail mary. She wakes up my grandfather and he hears it too, and its getting louder and louder. They go into my aunts room (she was an infant at the time), and they see she is not breathing. I dont really know how they helped her, if a change in position, ect stopped the problem, but she is alive today.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I do.

I have one of those creapy 9/11 stories. On Sep 7 my group moved from the 19th floor to the 21st floor. On Monday Sept 10 we found out that the big wig SVP's office was locked and no one had the key. My boss had asked me to go to 3 WFC Tuesday morning to get a copy of the key. Something I really didnt mind because I love walking through the WTC and was going to surprise my group by getting Krispy Kreme's. I woke up really early on 9/11 and was all excited to be going to my favorite location even if it was just for 5 minutes.

I was walking to the train and their were about 10 people on the way to the station. This woman who looked like she was lost stopped me and asked me for directions. Something that doesnt happen to me often at 8am. Their were other people around me, but she came right to me. As I was giving her directions the train pulled in and I missed it. I had to wait 10 - 15 minutes for the next train which caused me to be running late. I got on the train and when I got to the Williamsburg bridge that is when I saw the 2nd plane go into the twin towers. I had no idea what was even going on.

I got to my office on Wall Street, ran to my desk saw my boss who was crying because she didnt know I was running late and thought I was in the towers or in that area. She told me we had been evacuated. I told her I have to make 2 phone calls. I called Brian and my mom to tell them I was ok and going home. I got on the last train out of the city and watched the first tower go down.

I definatly believe that woman was an angel who was meant to keep me running late so I wouldnt be in that area at the time of the first and second plane hitting the towers. It was 8am and to get stopped for directions never happens.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

All of these precious stories gave me the chills. I am happy that I am not the only one who believes in these types of things.

Tracy--- my moms dog does what Patrick does in a sense. Ever since we got her, she goes to this specific place in the living room sometimes and stares up and wont move. At first we thought there was a fly in the house or something that she was trying to catch butwe have had her for 13 years now and she still does it. And when you ask her where my deceased uncle is (we use his name) she looks there and starts barking like mad. I totally believe.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I definitely believe! Thanks for sharing your stories. I have so many but the ones that stick out:

I was with my cousin at the beach floating on one of those inflatable matresses... we started swimming and ended up extremely deep. The people looked like aunts. The waters started getting rough. We decided to head back- I am not a great swimmer, but with the mattress it wouldn't be too bad. My cousin used to compete in swimming. Anyway, we try to head back and the wind took the matress from under us and it started flipping deeper and deeper. We chased it to no avail... we only ended up deeper! I started crying and panicking because I knew I would not be able to swim back. All of a sudden, a guy in a black rubber suit and a fishing gun appeared by the matress, grabbed it, and started swimming towards us. At first I freaked out and started swimming away because the guy looked weird in his dark suit and a fishing gun that had like a tripod spear on it. My cousin started talking to him. Turns out he was fishing for octopus! It took us over an hour to swim back with the matress! I really think I would have drown if it wasn't for that man. We saw that guy that night with his family at a cafe. He recognized us (we didnt recognize him because he was in all rubber at the beach) and he said hello and told us that we should be more careful. I truly think that an angel was looking out for us and put that man at the right spot to save us. That beach is huge and there was nobody else in sight.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

Ok......gonna answer this in a short and sweet way...

Do I believe in angels as in all white, sprouting wings, halos on head, harps playing the background hanging out on white puffy clouds - No.

do I believe I have people watching over me in times of need or times of joy - yes.

I also believe we have angels here on earth...

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I believe in angels.

My 1st story: About 4 years ago, I had a very bad intestinal infection. I had a fever of almost 104 for 3 days straight and it wouldn't break. I was staying at my mom's house during this illness. I got up around 2:00am to go the the bathroom and on my way back, I passed out. I never passed out in my life. My mother panicked and when I came to, she was frantically trying to get an ambulance on the phone. I told her not to call the ambulance that I felt better. As I was passed out, I felt as if 3 white spirits were standing over me fanning me with huge feather fans. My body temperature cooled down and I woke up feeling fine. She took me to the hospital the next morning anyway and my fever was about 101. They gave me an IV of saline and antibiotics and I was released that night.

My 2nd story: My mom took a music box in the shape of a little girl from my Grandma's house after she passed away. Lately, it seems like everytime we talk about Grandma, the music box goes off for a second or two.

Re: Do you believe in angels?

I like to think it was one of God's angels that brought DH and I together. Here's the condensed version.

I had been invited to go to a party following a Corporate Challenge run in Central Park back in '92. For some reason, instead of going to the small bar in the corner, I crossed the room to the large main bar to get a drink. While I was standing there, a cute guy came over to say Hi. I found out later (after we were dating) that he was there with a buddy from work when someone approached them and insisted he worked with them on the same floor, yet they had never seen this guy and since it was an open workspace it would have been hard to miss someone. This guy asked DH and his buddy what good lines they were using to meet girls and he insisted you had to have a good pick up line. DH argued that all you needed to do was say Hi, and if a girl wanted to talk to you she would, if not she'd turn away. After going back and forth awhile, this guy pointed to me and told DH, 'OK, go talk to her' - so he walked over, said 'Hi' and asked if I ran in the race. We ended up talking all night, he never saw that kid again, and when he and his buddy went searching for him at work the next day they could not find him and never did see him again.

So I like to tell DH that it was God's Angel pushing us together and he likes to smile back and tell me it was a Demon from He!!
