Do you call your parents by their first names?

Do you call your parents by their first names?

I can't imagine calling my mom anything else but Mom, (unless I'm being sarcastic, then I call her Sue!) but my cousins call their parents by their first names. They have for as long as I can remember too, even when they were younger. I also call them by their first names with the 'Aunt' and/or 'Uncle' before it...

Does anyone else do this? It seems kinda weird to me!

No, but I call FHs parents by their first names.

My sister and I call our mother, MD - short for Mother Dearest.

My parents have passed away already but I would never EVER call them by their first name. I don't even call my aunts and uncles by their first name. Whoever is in the room is called 'titi or tio' (spanish). Since I have soooo many if there are 2 or more in the room then 'titi mary', I include the name.

My hubby calls his mom by her first name but he does that to tease her (b/c she obviously hates it). He and his mom are very close though.

I call my parents by there names sometimes - Not all the time, Its not meant to disrespect I am an only child and sometimes it just feels natural to me my parents are my friends more than parents at times. My Aunts and Uncles - some have commented if I addressed them without there pre-fix so I always use it for them now. One of my Aunts hates being called Aunt (makes her feel old) and so does her husband so I call them by there 1st names.

Here's a spin off question I HATED that my mother had me call some of her stupid friends 'Aunt' or 'Uncle' when they were indeed not. The only person I don't mind this with is my God Mother otherwise it pi$$es me off.

Call my parents by their first name?? Not unless I want to digest my teeeth!!
But I call them mom and dad unless I'm sick or feeling sentimental then its mommy and daddy.

My situation is similar to Wacky, in that instead of an sperm donor I have an egg donor.

But my lucky for me my dad remarried when I was 6. Funny thing is I cannot ever remember calling her anything other than mom. Neither of my parents encourage me to do it, I just sort of took it on myself.
But most of my aunts and uncles I call them aunt and uncle so and so. Except for 2 of them. I dont know why or how that started but all my cousins do it as well.
My parents never made me call anyone aunt ot uncle who was not related to us.

But I have a several friends that refer to
themselves as Aunt/Uncle to my son which is kinda akward.

My IL are deacesed so I dont call them anything. But DH calls my mom and dad grandma and grandpa. Since he made them grandparents, they dont mind. He doesnt feel comfortable calling them mom and dad.

I call my stepmother 'mom' or refer to her as my 'mother'.

My 'real' mom I refer to as Hilda or 'my biological mother' or 'real mom'

My Dad.. nah.. He's just Dad, pop, The Big Guy (yah I call him that).

Odd part is my aunts and uncles. I refer to all as their first names. Without titles. So my Aunt Norma is just Norma. I don't know why. I think perhaps its because I grew up military and so they werent around a lot.

My 'real mothers' family I do call Uncle Frog, Auntie Freeze, Auntie Grace & Auntie Beautiful. (Can we say they had ego issues?)

I remember the only time in my life I called my mother 'Michele' and was little, (pre 1981) and she said I'm your mother not your friend and her tone scared the crap out of me. So now I call her Ma or Woman.

Daddy will always be Daddy.

FH calls his parents by their first names. All of his siblings do, ever since their parents got divorced, they all felt they weren't a family anymore so why call them mom and dad??
Major Issues, I know!
