Re: DO you ever board your dog??
I have to board them both when we go away which is not that often because i get physically sick when i have to leave them.. I cry soo bad that the receptionists and nurses come out to console me.. needless to say i feel stupid but they understand, and i cry for like the next 24 hours... then i call them EVERYDAY and i also leave the vet (i will ONLY leave them at a vet that is open 24 hours) all of my families phone numbers and my hotel info cell phone numbers.,
so i guess im a little crazy..

awwww I feel so much better now!!!!!!
I call every day also! I hate leaving him there but I know the people there know and love him and when he goes they are always like yay shaggy! lol
So that helps but I am already crying thinking about having to leave him.

Has anyone boarded their dogs out in the Hamptons in someone's house, as opposed to a kennel?

Re: DO you ever board your dog??
When dogs get boarded do they get enough exercise? We have a six month old puppy and we can't imagine leaving him now but we're definitely going on a week long cruise in fall 2004. We always thought we would leave him with my husband's grandmother who loves our dog but her health has taken such a turn for the worse that she might not even be here in fall 2004. When the time gets closer I will look for recommendations but since it was mentioned...my biggest fear is him being in a cage all day. Will he get to run around, play a lot, etc.?
I have not yet....when we were in NY...he would stay with my sister and BIL who love him and my BIL took him out for tons of walks...
now we drive 5 hours to my DH's brothers house when we went to Spain last month...
we are oging to NY in October...and I am contemplating taking him with us...

Re: DO you ever board your dog??
We got lucky in that respect. We're going to Vegas at the end of the month. We co-own our dog with the breeder so anytime we have to go anywhere we can bring her back and she gets to stay with her dog mom and dog uncle in Sea Cliff. Plus our breeder's even more mental about her dogs than I am with mine, so I can rest assured that she'll be well taken care of. She'd probably even come back more trained then when I left her.

Re: DO you ever board your dog??
We always board all our animals at FI's Animal Hospital! FM me if you want any info.
We could leave them with my parents, but some of our animals need medication, and god forbid something happened to one of them (our cat is old and has leukemia), FI's brother is the other vet at the hospital, and the staff is excellent, they are totally on top of things.
AND, the staff really LOVE all the boarders!!! TRUST ME!!! I used to work for him.
Even now, if we go back to the hospital at some point in the night for something, we go around to all the boarders, say hello to them, see how they're doing.
THey walk the dogs, and have a few runs.

Re: DO you ever board your dog??
I always leave her with my mom and dad. We always work it out that we dont plan vacations at the same time. I think she would be too nervous elsewhere. We are going to Vegas this month and that is where she will stay.
