at least 'husband' doesn't sound as pretentious (to me at least) as 'fiance'. So you have that to look forward to.

When ever I hear finace I think:

A dingo ate my baby

LOL OMG I LOVE THIS PHRASE. I say it to be obnoxious but people don't get it. I love that you get it.

oh reading this stinks.

i thought it would be easier to say 'I am married and this is my husband'

i HATE saying ' I am engaged and this is my fiance' i feel like i should put on a British accent when i say it. . .i feel VERY awkward about it like i am making a GRAND announcement.

I used to say it in a French accent -(a la Pepe la Pew) and follow it with snooty huh huh huh (not sure how to spell that). I hated that word.

I hardly ever use the word married or husband. If you don't know, you can take a peep at the ring on my finger and figure it out

I don't have this luxury, as I am still ringless.

loving 'yoked up' I think I might start using that it doesn't sound as dramatic...

I never had a problem with it, to tell you the truth.

There is something very comforting in telling people you are married when they look at your big @ss belly though.

ETA: You'll see what I mean when your fingers blow up to sausage status and you are waddling around ringless like a girl in trouble

It weighs a lot less than lugging around the actual man.

I never minded fiance, since Kevin's an older man I always felt kinda weird calling him my boyfriend. Fiance made me feel like a grown-up!! And one time my Grandpa said 'her fiance' in that snooty voice, it cracked us up and then we started saying it like that!!!

Husband is so much better tho. I feel like even more of a grown-up and I love it when he calls me his wife!! Not so much for the mushy stuff, but just for the fact that wife/husband is so much more stable and more official than gf/bf.

everyone thought we were married anyway half the time, we were called husband and wife for practically a year before we were even engaged.

to tell a particular person you are married?

I guess I've never really given it much thought, but now that I think about it, I guess I do sort of feel strange saying it.

I think for the most part I just don't say anything unless it comes up or I'm in a situation where I'm introducing my husband to someone. Then, in that case, I'll just say, 'This is my husband Kenny'. At that point it's out there, they know we're married.

If I'm in a situation where it has to come out, I just say I'm married. I don't go into any kind of detail, unless they ask.

So TRUE!!! This happened to my friend and it bothered her so much that she went out and bought a plain band to wear on her ring finger. She said you'd be very surprised at how many stares you get in that situation. She said she had this constant urge to say out loud I'M MARRIED!!!!

I don't know - maybe its just me... but why? What is the 'issue' exactly? What is the big secret??? I mean, arent we all proud of our lives, our decisions, and who we are and who we live with?

I was contributing as a joke at 1st, but then I'm seeing so many women agreeing with this - and I find it confusing. Not to mention - on a wedding website!!!

I'm not saying you go around saying 'I'm married... I'm married - yippeee...' but its just a natural part of where we are in our lives now, like havign a degree, being employed, etc....

Honestly, my first thought was to respond like your quote above, but then I thought about it and the more I did the more I realized that I do feel weird when I say it. I honestly had never noticed and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's b/c it's still new? Kenny and I were together for just over 8 years when we got married and I guess it's sort of surreal to say, yes we're married. NOT that I'm not proud or ecstatic to say it, b/c I really am. But for me it is sort of weird. I would like to be clear about one thing, however, I am NOT embarrassed to say I'm married. If someone says asks, 'are you married?' I say yes, we just got married this past Sept. But to actually hear those words come out of my mouth, is still strange to me.

What I do love saying? 'This is my HUSBAND, Kenny. And I LOVE hearing Kenny introduce me as his wife. It's like, DAMN straight! I'm THE woman!!!

Ah ha - that makes sense - the novelty of the situation and the 'word' - the thing is - I didnt have a chance to think about husband for too long, b/c less than a month later, I found out we were also going to be parents - that took the weirdness of the concept of 'husband' away ASAP!!!!

It's funny because I am not married and people always ASSUME that I am. And when they hear that I am not they ALWAYS have the same stupid question: 'Is Rob their father?'

You should respond with - well, we have the baby daddy narrowed down to 5 guys, but we are waiting to do the final test on Jerry springer....

Re: do you ever find it difficult

I usually don't say 'I am married' unless asked directly. I would just mention DH in the conversation.. 'my husband...'. Plus I have a ring on my finger so that usually answers the question.

On the other hand, DH and I did not use the word fiance. We said boyfriend/girlfriend.

I would just say.... 'no, I just use him for sex'.
