Do you feel intimidated having..

People over for dinner?

I learned how to cook a few things and my hubby is always the ginney(sp??sorry!!) pig. He is not picky at all and would eat dirt for dinner.. JK...But, I'm nervous to have my inlaws, parents, or friends over for dinner. I am scared they are going to hate it or get food poisoning or something..

LOL we haven't cooked for anyone else yet but I am sure I would! It's tough having everything ready at the same time, etc. I think if we do ever have people over we'll grill. That seems easier!

Tom mostly cooks but I get nervous that they won't like something or I won't have enough or they'll be bored LOL

When we have entertained we usually kept it really simple.... baked ziti, chicken parm - that sort of thing...

My mother told me when you first start to enertain, invite people over for cake and coffee, then try a cocktail type of thing with appetizers, then move to a easy dinner, really no-fuss and by time you invite them for a real dinner you will be confident in your cooking skills and expanded your repetoire past mac and cheese and hamburgers!!

omg- this weekend fh is like- oh, can you whip up blackened tuna for four? i was like
we went to fairway and the tuna was fresh and great there and the meal ended up coming out really well (except for my finger getting a 2nd degree burn on the pot)

oh and i ran out of blackening spice halfway into the cooking so i had to make my own!!

but other than that, YES very intimidated!

Re: Do you feel intimidated having..

I would feel intimidated if it were my family, especially my parents. My mom is a great cook. She has taught me some of her recipies but it will never be like my mom's.

DH is very simple and does not expect big meals all the time. His family is the same way. So i'm not really nervous when they come over. My family on the other hand is very picky and critical...

I also have a very tiny stove so I can't really make a lot of stuff. So sometimes we order. We love having people over especially our friends for board game night.

I am not too intimidated having my parents over for dinner (which I have had) it's DH's parents, they are like Mr. and Mrs. Italian and I'm worried I won't make a good Italian sauce for them. I have yet to have them over for dinner. Maybe when they come over I'll have their SON cook
