Do you ever feel like you cant believe your an adult?
I was talking to a wonderful friend of mine today and we both agreed that sometimes even though we have to do adult things, we still dont feel like one and on top of that..we dont want to be one.
Sometimes I feel like I should be doing more adult things i.e. buying a home, having a baby, better job, etc. but at the same time look at my life and wonder when did these things start to matter so much??
I still feel like im 15 most times and then life tends to hit me between the eyes. I dont think im immature but I think I still have loads of growing up to do.
Does anyone else ever feel like this?

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
I can tell you that buying a house or having a baby doesnt make you feel more adult. LOL I'm doing both and I still feel like I'm 15 myself most of the time, although I know I'm not and haven't been for more than 1/2 my life...
yes I feel like an adult...when I look at college students...i look at them as babies...
but what got me was when DH and I were in LA...and his niece wanted to go to Ozzy Osbournes house...we go and theres nothing going on...he was on tour...but the gate opens so that they can bring in the trash cans...so my niece goes onto the driveway to take pictures...and DH keeps yelling at her to get back...while I tell her to go in...
the whole way home our niece and nephew are talking about how old DH was and how he would've done it if he were young...and how ool I was since I told them they should do it...
I figured if she got locked in there...nothing really7 bad would have happened to her...and it would've been a great experience...

It's only when I need to be responsible for something for my mother do I feel like an adult. There's something surreal about having your mother in the hospital and my sister and I have to be the ones to handle the paperwork and the rest of the family, etc.
Other then that, I feel young at heart.

Only when I'm paying the bills do I realize I'm an adult

I feel like an adult, I just don't remember when it happened! I worry about things now, pay my bills early, save a percentage of my paycheck each week and even pick up after myself. Its terrible!

Not really. I still feel like I'm 18. The only times I feel like an adult is when we're out and I want to go home to go to sleep and it's only 10pm!

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
even though i do adult things, i don't feel like one... i always say to FH 'so when will i feel grown up' I thought by now (next month ill be 28) id feel like a grown up. I know to young people i probably look old (like 28 year olds did when i was younger... h e l l 21 year olds looked old to me) But i do look young for my age, so maybe that helps too.... But i'm not saying i feel immature, cuz im not... but i just don't feel grown up.
when will i be a grown up?

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
I absolutely do NOT feel like an adult. I still have to think about it when someone asks me how old I am. I feel like I'm about 18 or 19. It's especially evident in how I'm so hesitant to have children, and how I don't want to lose my freedom yet (I'm 34!!), and I wonder when everyone around me got so OLD and boring.... LOL!!
When I see teenagers or young adults, I realize how far away those years are for me now. That always seems to be a harsh reality check. But then I remind myself that I'm happy to have the wisdom and life experience that I have, and wouldn't want to go back and have to re-learn all the hard lessons again--and that makes me feel better!
I'm a very responsible person, but that's about as adult as I wanna get!!
I hope I stay this young at heart for the rest of my life.

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
99% of the time I behave like an adult when it comes to taking responsibility for my home, relationships and career, but I also love to do fun 'un-adult' things, like being silly, going out in the rain to splash in puddles, eating sugared cereal, and just being a kid at heart!

I feel young at heart but I realize that I'm an adult now. Especially now that we're married. I feel it even more. I have to say though looking at college kids now, I look at them as babies and it makes me feel old.

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
I still feel like I'm 17. However, when I see teenagers or go to places where I used to go when I was younger and look around and see a crowd that's a lot younger than me, I feel old. Then, like IrishTracy, I'm usually mortified and try to think back to see if I acted the way some of these kids act I hope not
I really don't want to be an adult either

Re: Do you feel like an adult??
Not really The one time I feel like an adult is when I am at work. I know I have a job with a lot of responsibility and people's lives are in my hands so I feel like an adult then. But off work, I feel like a kid! Me and my best friend were just talking about that-we have known each other since we were a day old (born the same day and best friends since) and it is funny to see how far we have come along-sometimes I feel like it was just yesterday we were playing Barbies or trading charms off our charm necklaces and now here we are 26 yrs later-she's been married for 2 years, me just about to be married. This is off on a tangent
