Do you find this weird?

Original post by miamimerger

Before reading this, please note that I understand how expensive weddings can be for EVERYONE involved. That said, FH and I got a package over the weekend--it was ONE out of the twelve $20 wine glasses we ordered. The glass was from a good friend of mine and FH's (her fiance is actually a GM in our wedding), and it said 'congratulations on your wedding!' FH and I are assuming it's from this friend and her fiance as a joint gift.

I don't mean to sound rude--because I really wanted those glasses--but isn't it kind of odd to get one $20 glass that is from two people as a wedding gift? Am I wrong to be surprised?

ETA: I checked the shipping label and registry, and they only got us one!

I think that's bizarre. Did they give you an engagement gift, maybe that's what it's intended as? Still, you'd think then the card would say 'Congrats on your engagement'. Even so, a $20 engagement gift from a close friend who's in your wedding party is pretty cheap if you ask me! I think you should buy them one towel as a gift.

LOL

I would email her or call and be like... Hey thanks for THE GLASS... maybe she will understand and mention that it was supposed to be a set!

did the box have two straws in it?

It's weird but maybe that's part of a larger gift? Maybe she just sent you the glass since websites usually ask if you want it sent to you or the couple but has another gift for you. I wouldn't be rude about it, you never know.

No, but thanks to you, I just got a great image of Saved By the Bell in my head (think Zack and Kelly on a date to the Max sharing a milkshake).

Very weird...and sorry to be rude...cheap. If it's a wedding gift...she should have purchased the whole set! I spent more than $20 when I send FH's kids to a birthday party at chuckee cheese : ) I understand money is tight...but you usually have a fair amount of notice and can save up for more than a $20 gift

that is strange. do u think she maybe thought by entering 1 in qty...she was ordering you 1 whole set?

The only reason I don't think that is because she is registered at the same place that I am, so she should know how it works!

i still think this is a STRONG possibility. just because she registered there doesn't mean she realized how to order. i'm sure she clicked one thinking that it would send you one set...OR she just forgot to change the quantity. in my mind, there's less than a 1% chance that she did this on purpose.

does she have a weird sense of humor? like i would totally do something like this to my best friend just to eff with her, then give her a huge check at the actual wedding...

I'd just accept it graciously and not give it another thought.

I agree, because you can't really ask her about it or anything. And if it was an error, she'll probably call you when she gets the TY note.

That is very, very unusual

That is very strange. That's what I hate about registries!
