Do you find yourselves becoming wedding critics....

Do you find yourselves becoming wedding critics....

after attending weddings that were/are before yours? My FH and I have been to 3 so far and each one has left us with a bad taste of what we don't want to happen at ours. Don't get me wrong..they were all beautiful in their own way....but some showed signs of being completely unorganized (mostly the venue's fault) and some were VERY important things..such as having the reception w/out music for over 5 minutes...and the bride and groom and bridal party missing for over 45 minutes? We saw the photographer drinking ridiculously and missigng very important shots. Most errors showed signs of the place being very unorganized. I hate to feel that way..but am SO glad we were able to experience these weddings in order to see what we don't want and hopefully won't have happen at ours. Have any of you felt that way?

not really. what's good for me may not be good for you or someone else. every wedding has it's good and bad point--mine notwithstanding i'm sure. i'm sure there were guests who didn't like things, but everything was perfect for me.

i try to relax and just have a great time. i notice things, but don't really care since it's not my wedding. i didn't want people criticizing my wedding so i won't do it to theirs.

I realize we can't please everyone, but from my point of view, being that I am getting married in 25 days...I hope the small things that went wrong for these weddings..don't hapen at mine.

i will say that PRIOR to getting married i was more critical of things...but NOW i am loving it. i enjoy weddings soooooo much more now. it's so exciting and sweet to watch and enjoy...i think mostly b/c i know how fun it all is and how exciting it all really is.

Yes! I recently went to a wedding and afterwards FH and I went over the things we liked and didn't like about the wedding. We've decided to do a photo montage after really enjoying the one they did. I don't rip them apart but I try to get ideas from them now.

Yes, once I started wedding planning I became a critic , however I realize that weddings outside of LI are very different than on LI-and many of the weddings we have gone to are not on LI-

After going through the ups and downs of the wedding planning process myself, I don't think I would be critical of other couple's weddings.

If anything, I think I am less critical.

I know how much thought, time and dreaming the bride and groom probably would have done in the months leading up to their day.

The things that could have been deemed 'imperfect' at our wedding, didn't phase us. We had an absolute blast, and that is all that matters.

Even before we got engaged there would be things at weddings that we would say we'd never do. Or things we loved and said we'd have to do it. We were very critical about everything.

We'll see what we're like when we go to a wedding after ours. No one is engaged, so it'll be a while.

I will say that although there were things that we noticed that went wrong...the couple looked EXTREMELY happy and in the end that is all that matters. I guess I just can't help but think of things since my wedding is coming up.

After having my wedding at The Woodlands I have come to realize if something goes wrong it is not the fault of the bride and grooms, and should not criticize them I guess im writing this because we were not happy AT ALL with our wedding at The Woodlands. But nothing can be done about it now. I guess what matters is that we are happy and in love

I also agree with this!! YOu don't know what the couple was looking for, or how they planned it. All that really matters is that they are happy and in love!

Re: Do you find yourselves becoming wedding critics....

I definitely viewed the weddings I went to before my own/during the engagement with a more critical eye. I always said that noone that came to my wedding was going to notice any of the little details besides me, my mother and other soon-to-be or recent brides.

I have a wedding in October, my first as a married lady, and I think I'm looking forward to going to this more than any other wedding. And they aren't even super close friends.

Re: Do you find yourselves becoming wedding critics....

I wouldn't say I've left any wedding I've attended since I started planning with a bad taste in my mouth. Rather, it's been - 'I really hope people have just as much fun at MY wedding as I did at this one' and paying attention to what really worked well for a bride, rather than what didn't.

Also, I think back to weddings I attended a while ago and try to remember different things (food, music etc), to see what memories I'm left with to try and gauge what things I should focus on for my wedding. For example, at my sister's wedding, I do not remember any ceremony music, but I remember what song she entered the reception to. I don't remember the cake, but remember dinner was cold. I remember having a great time b/c the music was awesome and everyone was dancing.
