Not sure what to do, since we've only been here 6 months and I see a new mail person every week.

My parents have never done this.

My parents do it now cause they're in a small small town where everyone knows everyone, so they feel more connected to the mailman.

I have a post office box so no one comes out to give me my mail. Even when I lived in Queens and got mail there, still never gave the man anything. Although I know some guy in our building did. The Mail guy left a really nice card for him and taped it to the wall over the slots.

heh

I guess it depends.

We rent, but our landlord did and does every year.

We give our mail carrier a $25 Amex gift check. When our dogs are outside in the nice weather, she gives them treats, so we like to do something nice for her.

Yes only because he brings up anything that doesn't fit into our mailbox to my door (3 flights up). He's a super nice guy too.

I gave our mailman $10 in a card. It's all we could afford with our wedding so close.

My dad is my mailman so my mom makes it a point to give him a bottle of Drambuie and address the tag to the 'mailman'

It' nice to hear that a lot folks give to their mail people. My dad says he doesn't mind the amount that is given, just the thought. My dad appreciates cookies, candy and liquor too. It's just showing that you care about the hard work he does in all of the bad weather, etc.

We always do. My dad is also a mailman, so that helps me remember! However, my dad has been 'on the wagon' for a number of years and gives us all the liquor he gets since he has no use for it!!
