We used to hang out with this guy. He was older then us like we were 16- 18 and he was around 25. We sometimes hung out with his really good friends also. This was back in the 'lets goto DPA' Days but... My Dh and his friend started hating him (for some reason) and I stopped talking to him cause they did. My Best Friend still talks to him. I was thinking about him the other day and I came home and he sent me an Instant Message that said 'Hi Merry Christmas and Happy New Year' I was shocked. I know that if I tell my DH about this he will be so pissed. But id really like to talk to him again.
I think the main reason they stoped talking was because he was really immature hence why he hung out with teanagers when he was in his mid-20's.

i have friends with whom i am no longer friendly but miss dearly. i have tried reconnecting with a few of them but found the friendship (and conversation for that matter) just wasn't like it used to be. it's sad and sometimes i really miss those friendships but we just don't seem to 'fit' into each others lives anymore. :(

Doesnt it stink. I really wish I could call him up and talk to him. And I am not the type of person who lets my man control me and he never ever tries. But I know how mad he would be. We all use to have such good times together.

Alicia I hear ya. That kind of how I feel. Mike and I broke up for 2 months and when we got back together His (the old friend) mother came up and was like We love you and I don't understand how you could be with a guy who treats you like that. I was like Like as if he told them mike beat me or something.

YES
I miss my cousin. We were best friends.
When I started dating my DH we started getting into little arguments and we just drifted apart.
She never came to my wedding, I believe she was upset that I didn't choose her to be in my BP after all, since we were drifting apart, I didn't see why I should choose her.
We've been to about 3 family parties since my wedding and we would just pass each other by or look at each other from the corner of our eyes or when the other one is not looking. We never even said Hi.
I Miss Her...

I have a number of friends who were once huge parts of my life who drifted away for one reason or another. There are a few of them who I wish I could talk to again. One in particular...but the reasons i'm not friends with these people anymore is b/c they generally caused me more heartache than the friendship was worth. It's nice to remember the good times though.

No ! I had a friend that i use to hangout with when we were in elementary school her name was isabell and we were close like sister's but all of a sudden she turned against and trying to get every not to like me. than she called me a couple of years later to apologize to me about what she did to me in elementary school. andthan a couple of years later i saw her at stonybrook college because she was working there and she started her little game again i wouldn't be surprise if she was on drugs because she was so messed up and a couple of months later she wasn't working there anymore. we totally drifted apart and in a way i am glad i have not seen her since because she was a real b!tch and i could care less to see her again. i know that sounds mean but she really treated me like dirt. if someone hurts me like that, that trust is broken.

Re: Do you have a friend that you don't talk to anymore but sometimes miss and wish you did?
Yes! My best friend from Kindergarten through 10th grade. We were inseperable. We also went through the 'different cliques' stage in jr high school and the 'oops I kissed your boyfriend' stage in elementary school. We went our seperate ways about 10 years ago and have spoken only once or twice since. I REALLY want to see her again - even if we can't rekindle our closeness, I'd still like to have her in my life. I've tried to contact her through her mother, to no avail
I do have a guy friend from 8th grade that I was friends with forever but hadn't spoken to him since my wedding (he moved out of state) and he called me today out of the blue! It was so nice to hear from him! I'm such an emotional person that all the people I've known in my life have impacted me in one way or another and I cling to them even after all these years....

YES...she was one of my BEST friends in college. Some issues she had surfaced when we graduated and it ended our friendship.
She came back apologizing...we became friends again and she did it again.
I was so hurt....we are no longer friends....I miss our friendship terribly and all the memories. It stinks because I had no control over the situation

Yes. a friend that I grew up with. She moved away when we where in the 7th grade. We would each call each other. Then it felt like I was only calling. The phone works 2 ways. Then I was hurt that she asked me to be in her wedding party, in a birthday card, not on the phone. I felt I deserved a phone call for that. Hopefully we could get back to calling. I even e-mailed her to see what's going on. She never responded.

Re: Do you have a friend that you don't talk to anymore but sometimes miss and wish you did?
Just a little word of advice to all of you who have long lost friends that you want to get in touch with, but never do. Please do it now before it's too late. I learned this the hard way. I allowed myself to distance myself from my best friend because I got to busy with 'life' and when I went online to check on her current address, I found that she had been raped and murdered months earlier. To discover this information, and ONLINE nontheless, about somebody I was so close to and loved so much was devastating to say the least, and I don't want anybody to ever go through what I went through.
I find myself losing touch with close friends sometimes, and I quickly just send them an e-mail or drop them a quick line just to say 'miss you -- ' or 'thinking about you --' because seriously, you never know, one day it may be too late.
I'm sorry to drop all of this on you guys, but seriously, if you're thinking about them, they're probably thinking about you, and it's worthwhile, esp. in the beginning of the new year, to get in touch with these people.
Good luck to all of you.

Matron, I am so sorry to hear this.
As far as getting in touch with a long lost friend, there is one guy an old boyfirned who was such a close friend of mine when he went away to school we lost touch and I think of him everyso often. There was also this friend who I ws close with through out elementary and high school and I spoke to his mom we were close and he got married and moved away and has a kid. I just wish he would have told me. that he was leaving. He was a great guy as a brother type. My friends were always the guys.

OMG I'm so sorry matron. Thats horrible
I have a few. I miss some of my high school friends even though they were backstabbing b*tches.
And I miss a couple of my male best friends. I ran into one a few years ago somewhere and tried to reconnect. I was single at the time and we hung out a couple times then I don't know what happened. THen I saw him at Chelsea street one night and Said 'Hi' all excited to see him, and he just said 'Hey' and walked away. Since then I've been dying to ask him why he did that (i know his aol screenname) but I might come off looking pathetic. I dont know why I got the cold shoulder, and I really miss him. He was one of my best friends from HS. He's getting married this year (august) and I wonder if his fiance is here. LOL
and another male friend who was moving to Arizona and he stopped returning my calls before he was leaving, and left without saying goodbye. I miss him too.

I had 2 people who I consider to be my BEST friends. The one I still am but the other isn't anymore because I couldn't stand up for her at her wedding. I know for a FACT that her husband was abusing her. I just couldn't do it so she dropped me.

Re: Do you have a friend that you don't talk to anymore but sometimes miss and wish you did?
Matron, I am so sorry for your loss.
I actually have a very positive story. I had a best friend from the age of 5 through 21. We were as close as sisters. Unfortunately, one night I got very drunk, went into a rage, and said some things that I shouldn't have. After that night, we stopped being friends. Every once in awhile we would see each other in the neighborhood, speak politely, but that was it.
My DH knew how special this person was to me because I would speak about her all the time. Well, DH took it upon himself to look up both her and her mom and invited them to the wedding. At first I was so mad that he would do something like that behind my back. Lo and behold, a few weeks later they contacted my father and said they would be delighted to come. They even came to my shower. Now,both she and I get together for Happy Hour. She told me recently that she still considered me a sister. My DH is the one that made it all happen.
When contacting a long lost friend it is a risk. You never know what kind of reaction they might have or if they even want to reconcile at all. My story is proof that sometimes (depending on your situation) it is worth the risk and there are happy endings. Friends are very dear to have in life and, as we all know, life is very short.
