Do you have a friend that you don't talk to anymore but sometimes miss and wish you did?

We used to hang out with this guy. He was older then us like we were 16- 18 and he was around 25. We sometimes hung out with his really good friends also. This was back in the 'lets goto DPA' Days but... My Dh and his friend started hating him (for some reason) and I stopped talking to him cause they did. My Best Friend still talks to him. I was thinking about him the other day and I came home and he sent me an Instant Message that said 'Hi Merry Christmas and Happy New Year' I was shocked. I know that if I tell my DH about this he will be so pissed. But id really like to talk to him again.
I think the main reason they stoped talking was because he was really immature hence why he hung out with teanagers when he was in his mid-20's.

yes,
i became friends with this girl in high school and we became very close. we were pretty much like sisters. we knew everything about each other and always hung out. we got into a fight her senior year and didnt talk after that. (she graduated a year before me) currently we right sometimes and really never talk. i wish that stupid fight didnt happen. such a good friendship was ruined.

There are a few. One friend got tricked into marrying a woman with 4 kids (she told him her tubes were tied and then she was miraculously pregnant). They got married in SU03 and since then I heard from him twice.
I just got an e-mail from HER telling all of us friends that he left her pregnant with no money (gee, two miracle pregnancies after her tubes were tied). His parents, brother and best friends have not heard from him, but we are hoping he will get back in touch.
Another friend drifted away and pops back in to say Merry Christmas, but not much else. I miss him and his zaney sense of humor.

I had a BF all through High School and for reasons i don't think either of us can understand we drifted apart while i went away to college. We still spoke on the phone and hung out when i was home, but it was never like it was when we were in HS and talked every single day about everything. After college we kind of just slipped out of each others lifes, but i saw her every once in awhile around the neighborhood.
About two years ago i invited her to my house for some drinks and we started talking and emailing again. But it was just different, i really didn't know much that had gone in her life over the past 4 years so it was just a different conversation. She got married near me and we both invited the others to our weddings and we both went, but like I was sitting with her work friends, so it was kind of sad for me. Her family even came up to me at the wedding and was like what happened between you two and i was like i don't know our lives just went in seperate directions, we are not 'mad' at each otehr and never were.
Friendship is very hard to understand. I also have friends from grammer school that I went a few years with not hanging out with and then we met up and became best friends again. So i guess it really depends on the people.

Re: Do you have a friend that you don't talk to anymore but sometimes miss and wish you did?
yes I do .. more than one.
Actually right before Christmas, I recently reconnected with my former best friend. We hadn't seen or spoken to one another in nearly3 years.
At that time, the friendship has literally become dysfunctional, and she hurt me SO badly that we needed to cease all communication. I did try to reach out to her at one point when I'd heard she was engaged (b/f I was engaged) yet she never responded. She got married and I felt so sad not to be there
After that point, I met DH , we got engaged and married and I still never tried to get in touch with her. But it would make me very sad when I would reflect on the fact that this person who was like a SISTER to me wasn't there to share in some of the most wonderful moments of my life, and vice versa.
Out of the clear blue, she sent me a letter and asked if I would be interested in meeting. I actually cried when I read it. I wrote her back and we made plans to meet
We did meet, and it was just wonderful. We are both in a much better place in our live(s) right now and that was reflected in our conversations. It was a great 'reunion'
However, I still walked away from the entire situation very sad. I felt as what we did have in the past would never be the same - we just would never be as close as we once were , and really once we caught up I didn't see how we could truly continue the friendship .. We're both married now, she has stepchildren, we don't live closeby. It just doesnt seem feasible
So while I am very happy that we resolved our past and have closure on the situation, I do not see the friendship continuing at this point. We haven't emailed or chatted since
