ours is not huge, but its not small either so I voted large, but we don't have a formal dining room-that's high on the list for our next house. we can put the leaves in our table & seat 8 comfortably in our kitchen now. & I have lots of cooking space.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
We have a good sized EIK, so I voted large. It's not tremendous, but it's big enough.

Nope. Unless you count fitting a few stools against the counter top 'eat in'

Same here. I guess it comes with the style of the house (hi-ranch). We actually do use stools to sit at the counter top and eat sometimes, but we mainly use our dining room for all sit down eating function, when we are not eating on the couch in front of the TV!!

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
Ours is a nice size EIK. I have a 4 person table in there now, and a larger table in the dining room. I would love to redo it though, it is a 1980's style kitchen with lots of formica.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
I put small but its not really that small considering the average sized kitchen in my area. Although its probably small compared to most of the homes in LI.
Its 12x8 - large enough to fit a 4 person table.

Ours is small, it can only accomodate a 4-person table.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
I ask because we are buying a new table, a bit larger than the one we have now, and I want to see if most have eat in kitchens, so when the time comes and we move, I can use the table. It's rather expensive, so I don't want to be able to not use it later on. I guess we can use it as a DR table too but I want a whole DR set, cherry wood, china cabinet etc (sort of like Niecey's or Jenny5150's. Niecey & Jenny you have fab DR sets!)
Here is the table we want for the kitchen but with different chair cushion fabric.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
Jenn: I think most kitchens wont be able to accomadate that size table in the kitchen. Most really big kitchens have islands or counters or something too. So even if hte kitchen is large, that table might be a tight fit. But you can use it in a dining room if that is something you plan on getting in your next home.
Is there a leaf in there so you could make the table smaller?

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
no there is 2 leaves that can make the table bigger
But actually the table really is smaller than it looks in the photo. It's slighly larger than out current table & the same amt of chairs. We have a decent size kitchen now. I guess we would have to use it for the DR then. We are still debating it.

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
That's a pretty kitchen set and can be used as a dining room later on if need be. I like it!
I have a pretty decent sized kitchen and I have decent sized table with 4 chairs. That set would probably fit even withside piece in my kitchen but the way my room is set up - a six chair wouldn't look great and waste space in the room.
Thanks for the compliments on my dining room set! I bought it when I moved into a larger apartment in Astoria because my dream was to have a nice formal dining room. I figured no matter what - a house would fit it because the apartment wasn't very big - I couldn't even fit the table with both leaves in. When DH and I started looking for houses we had a hard time finding a house which fit it!! Esp. since we had like split level houses - most had smaller dining rooms...thank goodness we found one that finally fit it (wound up buying a colonial)! At worst case - we could have put the china or serving piece in another room and still look ok - but we really wanted to keep it all together. My advice to you is if you are making a major purchase and plan to move anytime soon - be careful for the future...I know it is hard to tell though....

Re: Do you have an eat in kitchen?
Niecey, Thank you for the advice, you always have EXCELLENT home advice, and I always enjoy reading your thoughts & smarts on home stuff.
DH says let's get it because even when we do move, we will not be able to afford a nice DR set like you have right away. so we can use this for a DR if we don't have a large EIK.
edited to say we really need a new set now, badly! And I found it online (NC!) Just waiting for their price.

Good Luck - I like it and it would look great for a dining room in the future too - so I like your DH's advice!

Jenn, that table would fit beautifully in my kitchen. You should get it if you love it.
