Re: do you have contact lenses?
i have disposable contacts that i change every 2-3 weeks depending. go to your normal optholmologist, they can perscribe contacts for you.

Re: do you have contact lenses?
If you haven't had contacts, I would recommend going to a opthamologist. They take closer measurements of your eyes for contacts - they need the curvature of the eye.
I have disposables and I love them!! Especially in the summertime when the glasses get all sweaty and icky! I am too lazy to do the disinfecting regular contacts need, so I wear the disposables for 2 weeks and throw those bad boys away. I wore Surevues for about 10 years, but they recently discontinued them, so now I wear Acuvues. I definitely recommend them!

See your opthamologist first.
And I do NOT recommend disposables for a first time user. Yes, they are more comfortable than regular extended wear contacts but they are so paper thin that when it's time to take them out it's damn near impossible. Well, this is me anyway. I'm fairly new to the disposable contact world (though I've worn regulars for years) and I'm currently using the Focus Day & Nights. Whenever it's time to take them out, I can easily spend 1/2 hr per eye jamming my fingers in there and rubbing trying to get them out. It's extremely frustrating and painful.
I never had any problems inserting or removing my daily or extended wear regular lenses and I'm seriously considering switching back.

Re: do you have contact lenses?
Acuvue 2 is the newest disposable in the Acuvue line, and it somewhat corrects the very problem jimmysbride is talking about. Most disposables are very thin, but these have a bit more to them - they hold the curved shape better - i really love them and would definitly reccomend. Good Luck!

why not get lasik surgery? my co-worker just had the procedure done a few weeks ago, and now hes got 20/20 (or close to it)...he said it wasn't bad at all...and he never has to wear glasses or contacts again. just a thought.

Re: do you have contact lenses?
i've been wearing contacts for 16 years. i have horrible vision (negative double digits contact perscription PLUS an astigmatism) and i've been to an opthamolgist only once. an optometrist can fit you perfectly for lenses. it's your call though. most likely the dr will prescribe disposable lenses depending on your eyesight and any other problems you may have (astigmatism). disposable lenses are very thin which is very good for your eyes (they can breath). good luck.

I have worn glasses for 13 years and just got contacts 2 years ago. I have hte 2 week disposable, and I have never had this problem. However I think I might have acuvue 2. I actually got contacts because I was MOH in my best friends wedding and as I get older my eyesight gets worse so I didnt want to wear glasses that night but I wanted to be able to see clearly! I now LOVE the flexibility I have with contacts! I still wear glasses 90% of the time because I really like my glasses but its night to know I have options!

scares me too m;uch right now and i heard not to get lasik until you are older b/c your eyes change. plus, i want to wait until they see if there are any unforeseen contraindications to the surgery b4 i get it. but how is it to put them in and take them out? i can touch my eye, but still, what is it like?

Re: do you have contact lenses?
I hate glasses!! I have been wearing contacts for 13 years. I have worn the regular ones, 2 week disposables, colored contacts, and now dailies. The dailies are by far the best. You don't clean them, you always have a new lense in your eye, and you never get infections. I highly recommend them.

Re: do you have contact lenses?
I would definately get disposables too!! That is all I have ever worn... and in case you rip or loose one, it is not expensive or a huge hassel to get another one... It take a little while to get used to them, but after you get them, they are great... I have always had the acuvue 2 wks ones and never had a major problem....

Re: do you have contact lenses?
I Just got mine a week ago. I started wearing glasses but really only for distance. I wasnt required to wear them all the time. Of course when I really needed them, they werent there since Im forgetful and leave them behind. The contacts are great and give you a better view then glasses. I have disposable, every 2wks. SO far, they are good. Happy I made the choice to switch and I was told that my eyesight did get worse and I needed to wear glasses more often. Worked out for the best.

Re: do you have contact lenses?
I have been wearing contacts for the past three years. If I would have known how easy and wonderful it was to not have to wear my glasses, I would have gotten them 15 years ago. try Accuvue monthlies! And if you get a presriction from you dr., call 1-800-contacts and you will save almost half of the price! Good luck! Not sure specifically what doctor you would go to sorry!

Re: do you have contact lenses?
I have worn contacts since high school and I love them! I went to Lens Crafters when my old opthamologist moved, they gave me an eye exam, and I picked up 6 sets of monthly contacts the next day. I wear them longer for a month, I usually forget when im supposed to start the new pair. The only annoying part is having to take them out when you just want to go to sleep. Also, taking them out after youve been drinking is tricky sometimes. But I love mine ! Good luck!
