Do you have 'friend' time??

Do you go out with your friends alone? How often? Does your FH or DH do the same?

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

I used to go out every friday night with my best friend but money has been tight so I havent gone out in a while.

a guy FI works with is going to be in FL the same time as us and will be about 10 min from us so FI, his best man and this guy are going out to a bar and my matron and I are going to stay at home, pig out on munchies and watch movies.

I try and go out with the girls as much as I can. FI works a lot and at nights so he doesnt really hang out with the guys like he used too.

My best friend and I used to go out almost every Friday but once she got married and got pregnant (her due date is Sunday) it has been hard to spend time together. I miss those days.

We do a once a month date with ALL the girls...no exceptions. Its great to have that time together...I do see others more frequently but this is when the whole group gets together. We always have a blast!

yes, i hang out with my best friend every friday night. we go out to dinner and then go to the bar or we'll just stay at her house order take out and rent some movies. fh does go out but not every weekend because sometimes he works saturday and sunday, but if he doesn't have to then he'll go to the bar or someplace with his friends.

I must be really honest with you ladies.

I do not hang out with the girls as much as I should.
I am so bad!!! I try to call or email, but ever since I got engaged it has become worse.

It is not because I spend every waking moment with FH- because I don't. This is something I am working on now.

Fh spends a good amount of time with friends. he goes out about twice a month with the guys. He also plays alot of sports so that gives him more guy time.

I am such a loner, but I am getting better.

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

This post couldn't have come at a better time. FH and I have been talking about needing to spend one-on-one time with our friends. I say once a week or once every two weeks. He says more (but only one friend). We actually argued about this a few days ago. Most of my friends are married or dating someone seriously, most of FH's friends are single. My friends are always busy with their men. His friends are not busy and want to see him. One friend (the one who introduced us) wants to see him a few times a week and expects that he will see him routinely on one particular night. When FH has other plans, this friend gets mopey. He needs a girlfriend.

I would love to get a big group together to go to a bar, so we can hang with everyone, but it's not as easy as when we were in college.

Yes I do... not very often though. I go out more with my friends during the week, when John is working over night. On the weekends it's usually US time or couples hanging out. We don't like to waste our weekends being separated.

I do spend quality time with my MOH... when it comes to her, FH knows to keep his mouth shut, LOL!

Sure, I go out with the girls, he goes out with the guys, sometimes we all go out together. If it wasn't for one of my friends knowing one of his friends we never would have met.

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

FH is awesome this way. Sometimes a friend may call and say Wa lets go for a drink and I just call him and tell him I am going to get a drink with so and so. He doesn't go out as much as I do. But I need friend time. I also need someone to pick me up from the train station in my drunken state! LOL

I have a friend, who thank goodness is no longer with this person she was dating who was too demanding. Calling her 8x while we were having dinner, would get upset if she went out with me. One time I took the phone and told him to stop calling she is with me. I am getting married so we are not looking for men!! He didn't trust her. Even though he wouldn't admit it. No way could I live like that. Eventually she saw the light I was leading her to.

KYSHA, you have me to go out with.

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

How do you get your married friends to take time? I would love to see my friends more, but they always seem busy. I feel like THEY don't have time for ME, but FH keeps nagging me to see them and be girlie and makes it out like it is MY fault I don't see them. I have cried many a night about this. I would love to get together with a girlfriend on a weeknight, but they all have to cook and then they go to bed early. And on the weekends they are cleaning and enjoying their husbands. FH makes me feel guilty because I don't make plans with my friends, but I feel horrible because they are too busy for me

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

It is so hard for my friends and I to get together. During the semester I can't because I have school, many of them have kids and my friends all live in different boroughs! I just went away with 2 of my BMs and I had not seen either of them for about a month before - we had this trip planned for 6 months - it was the only way we could make it! I miss them!

I used to be bad... spending every waking moment with FH and waiting for him when he went out or going out with his friends, god I hated myself! I get so annoyed at girls like that!

When he joined NYPD it woke me up, I realized that I needed to rekindle friendships and now I live the 'single' life and I love it!

I go out with my single friends and we party all night, all weekend long, and I just have sooo much more to talk to my FH about, stories to tell eachother etc.

Except now I'm cutting back on the beer because the gut is coming in full swing! (.)

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

I think 'friend time' is almost as important as 'me time' so yes, I definetly have it. My best friend & I go to dinner once a month...doesn't sound like much but it's nice to get away and doesn't damage the savings. We talk every day and grab lunch at least once a week. With other friends, we have 'girls night' every few months...

My FH doesn't feel the same way as I do about friends. Sadly.

Re: Do you have 'friend' time??

I have had 'friend' time for many years. We don't have a specific day of the week but we always go out to movies or dinner- every other week or so. Plus we just hang-out and have tea sometimes.

nvrbrd I'm like you , I need to see my friends more.

I miss them, but find that I don't make an effort to see them. I got really lazy about it and feel awful. I used to think I'd never neglect my friendships, but to be totally honest I have.
