Do you have regerets about your wedding??

Do you have regerets about your wedding??

And I dont mean getting married to FH. This is the most important things to me and I know to all of you.

I am referring to the amount of money we're spending. We all want our day to be perfect and fun and memorable. However, sometimes I sit and wonder why i am spending all this money when it could go to my future child's school fund, or as extra money towards the finance of you car. Don't get me wrong I love all this planning but the money I saved up would come in so handy for something towards the future.

Do any of you have these thoughts some times?? It's normal right??

yeah i have my moments, i think its very normal...Sometimes i think ahhhh if we didnt have this wedding to pay for we can go on this trip and that trip right now, even small things like ahhhh i would be able to shop and not feel guilty lol.

I'm glad I am not the only one feeling like this. Sometimes I think to myself - Why the h e c k I am spending all this money? As comfortable as we are in life, always having extra money is a bonus.

its weird bc i dont regret the money i am spending on the wedding itself, just get annoyed at times like ahhh if i didnt have a wedding to pay for i would do this or buy that

sometimes...like im spending nearly double what my bro spent...so that night i was a bit depressed...bc he was married and it will be different..and that i will be spending money like its nothing which i do and dont want to do.. (and i saw how much he spent it was just a great nite)

but of course fh being my rock told me how he felt and im like you are right: BEING that i mean...its one day...we cant do it over again..if perfection is what i want...i pay for what i want. you know?

he has no idea how much he is my 'level head'. when i freak out..he brings me back down.

i love that man.

yeah i worry a lot. its hard especially because we arent going to get any help financially - and we just spent a few thousand on our e-party .

but its our wedding, and we love eachother, and it wouldnt feel right to do it half-***.....its just weird bc i wasnt the type of girl who always dreamed about her wedding, and always knew what colors and theme i wanted and all that other girly wedding stuff.....but i still want it to be awesome and i want it all to come out great......

the only thing that keeps me sane is that we are planning this wedding in about 16 months - and if we can save over 40k for the wedding and pay it off in cash than that means we can def save just as much or more in the16 months following the wedding - which will be more than enough for a down payment on our house in florida....so that is the plan and i guess its keeping me sane for now.....

I have no regrets spending this money b/c FH ensures that I don't. I usually don't spend money on myself (except for shoes...my one vice) and wasn't going to on the wedding but FH told me that since I always take care of others that he wants me to have what I want. ....I'm still budgeting well for this though and making smart inexpensive choices so it doesn't hurt so bad lol...but I still get a pang writing out these checks.

like meeeeeeee!

i have zero regrets---we paid for the entire thing ourselves over 2 yrs--and in the end....on the big day....it was worth it and thensome. there is no greater feeling than when my DH and i walked into the reception room before the guests were in there (they were at the CH) and we looked around at the gorgeous lighting, the tables set up, the favors on display, and we looked at each other and we both just knew what the other was thinking.....'We did THIS'

before -- you worry it won't be worth it. on the day of you KNOW it was.

Sorry. When you see the bills after the wedding and no one has given you money. I'll be a poor wife after.

Sometimes I think all of this money could be going towards our house, but the wedding is something we both want. I don't think we're being overboard at all, so I'm not crazed about the amount we're spending.

I feel the same way.

It also helps that we're getting some help from my parents.

It's funny that you pose this question today, bc lately I have been thinking wow so much money for one day. Our glist is exploding so we had to add about another 5K we werent counting on. Its hard bc I really want my day to be perfect but we are not getting help from anyone and we are paying cash for everything.
Like someone said, that day all our sacrifices will be worth it. And this will definitley show me that if we can say 45K in a year we can say even more the following for a house.

OMG!!! I do it all the time....haha There are places I want to go and clothes that I want to buy but I can't right now and I keep saying well after the wedding I can do all the shopping that I want.

Re: Do you have regerets about your wedding??

well its kind of a half regret

i got engaged in December 2005 and I wish we had planned the wedding for January 2007 instead of 2008

i am a VERY anxious/nervous/paranoid person and it has really been difficult for me to deal with the planning for this long

i dont mean the ACTUAL planning like appointments or DIYs - i mean just having all of this time to think of every single possible situation that could possibly go wrong - this paranoia has been changing my personality and i HATE it

BUT in the end we will be able to pay for the entire wedding in cash, so it is worth it

so i guess its not a regret then LOL
