I am pretty sure I am going to drop Sprint and move over to T-Mobile.
T-Mobile carries a certain blackberry phone that no other carrier has... which is why I am switching. I just got the new phone yesterday and I really could use this phone for my job.
I have been using a temporary number with T-Mobile and in Queens and Manhattan... my service has been surprisingly pretty good. I was expecting much worse knowing T-Mobiles 'rep'.
But if I change to T-Mobile... I have to move my FW's number over as well. She will be using it a great deal in the Long Island areas (Riverhead, Wading River, Woodbury, Patchogue, to name a few).
I am most likely switching regardless... I am just curious as to what kind of hell I am going to get into. Money is not an issue cause my job pays for my phone.
My FW will be happy she is getting a kickass video phone if/when I switch. I just don't want her to drive me insane saying her service sucks. But then again, since she doesn't pay a dime for her phone either... she can only complain so much.
My Sprint service has been pretty damm good so I am a little nervous about this switch.
Moving to AT&T/Cingular/Verizon/Nextel is not an option. Its either move to T-Mobile or stay with Sprint.

Re: Do you have T-Mobile and live in Long Island ??
we have tmobile. it is okay. i get dropped in valleys, like usual and sometimes i don't always get my voice mail...sometimes it is like there is a delay, but for the most part, we like it. we have the family plan so dh and i talk to his parents and each other unlimited. tmoble has improved, however.

I live in Queens and have T-Mobile, have been with them since Oct. of '01. I've been pretty happy with their service overall. DH and I also have a family plan- I forget how many minutes we have but it's unlimited to each other (and we call each other more than anyone else anyway) for $59.99.
Also, my phone was stolen last spring. Since it was the one I got when I signed up, I was eligible for an upgrade, so I replaced my phone for $20, and it was a nicer and better phone. I could have gotten a better phone for $40, I think, but I didn't need to.

Yeah... I definitely believe that T-Mobile service has improved. I remember when I first moved into my apartment in Aug '03... my buddy tried to make a phone call in my apartment with his T-Mo phone and couldn't even place the call due to lack of signal.
Knowing I would get no signal in my apartment was a huge deterrent. But I decided to borrow a loaner phone from my job to test last week... and now I am getting five bars in my apartment.
Again... cash is not an issue. I will need an expensive plan anyways cause I need at least 1000 minutes... two lines... and full blackberry service (which is a $40/month add-on I believe).
I am just curious as to how much you are cursing out your service just so I am prepared to hear it from FW.

We had T Mobile for 3 years. The first 2 years were excellent...now we get knocked off of phone calls constantly. We hate using our cells because we are forever saying...'Can you hear me now???'
We are dropping them at the end of this month when our contract is up.
Verizon seems to work best on Long Island from what I hear.

Re: Do you have T-Mobile and live in Long Island ??
I have T-mobile Ive said it before here (with people being amazed) and ill say it again I have NO PROBLEMS. Never have a dropped call 99% of the time I have service. My husband has verizon (got it because everyone said they are the best) and says how he wants to pay to get out of his contract cause he likes tmobile better. I kinda have to have Tmobile because I have an addiction to Text Messaging and I pay 10.00 a month for unlimited text's. Now sure u say well how many can you actually send like 600 outgoing and 600 incoming. I was paying an arm and a leg with att.
ETA: My DH always says how Tmobile has the best phones he jealous. And I also really thing that lots of times bad service could also be caused by the phone. My best friend has them and was getting crapy service with her phone she bought a new phone and no problems at all. And I had the same problem with Att

Have had them for several years. No major problems. FH sometimes has trouble getting a signal when he is on the North Shore (i.e., Port Jeff), but we live on the South Shore and generally do not have a problem.
