Do a bridal party invite? I asked all my girls (cousins, best friends and sisters) and everyone said yes and is excited. Do I really need to do a formal invite?

not at all, most people don't do formal invites. My BM's are just PIA's

I didn't do one...I just asked them. I think it's more personal to ask them...JMO

i did a gift because i felt i had to bribe people to be in my bp. Most people just ask and the people who found out i did what i did think i am nuts so its okay to just ask.

I am going to ask them with those designer cookies that say 'will you be my ......'. Not a formal invite

you don't have to. Some people just do it cause it's nice. I just asked mine when we got engaged....they all pretty much knew they were in it. But I think I might make something special up for them and give it to them this summer.

It's a nice touch, but I didn't think it was necessary. I'd rather write longer thank-you's and give nice BP gifts.

Re: Do you have to . . .
The day I got engaged I was so excited, I called up my sister and my two best friends and was like, 'OMG we're getting married! And you're going to be my bridesmaid!' and we started jumping around and squealing. Not too formal.

I think the way I did, making a card and 'hunting' them down with a surprise was fun. I didnt make it fromal, it was more of a sign of respect and thanks. I wanted to add that most of our BP knew they would be, they kept asking and we held off on telling them till 2 weeks before our e-party, it was fun to hype it up

I just asked all of my BM... but I think I might get them official cards asking them to be my bridesmaids... I think that would be nice. I won't give them a big present until before the wedding.

Re: Do you have to . . .
I had an 'Engagement dinner' but only for my immediate family and bridal party. In the invite I wrote that I wanted them to be there b/c they have been a special part of our lives and will be a special part of our wedding day. So it was kind of a hint that just the BP was invited. Then I realized maybe I should ask them before the dinner so they are not put on the spot. Good thing I did b/c one friend actually said no b/c of financial reasons...(which I totally understood). Then, at the dinner I gave all the girls individual., personalized cards with a picture of me and them in it and wrote why they were so special to me and formally asked them to be in the BP. My FH basically just said...yo...you are in my BP. Ahhh... men!

Re: Do you have to . . .
I asked my bridal party. They're close family members. They were all excited about it. If you already asked them then there is no need to do an invite unless you really want it.
