Do you have to call the halls you visited but not going to book..

and let them know that you won't be coming back. I have about 10 messages from different places on my answering machine and wondering if I should call back

It's nice to call back but you don't have to.

I probably would wait to see if they call again.

If they call more than once, I would call them back.

I didn't call anyone back.. it's up to you, it would be a nice courtesy, and one that I don't think they'd be expecting! But personally I didn't call any vendors back if I didn't book them.

I didn't. I don't think it's necessary - it might be polite, but certainly not necessary.

I only responded to vendors who wouldn't stop calling to inquire as to whether I'd made a decision or not.
