I was reading groovypegs post, and we're going to pay $100 for their dinner and drinks, do we tip as well, and their the owners?????!!!!!??? wow, I'm becoming a wedding vendor

Yes. You tip if the service is above and beyond, but feeding is pretty much standard, especially photographer/videographer and musicians. They're with you for the long haul, and they deserve a chance to eat as well.

I am planning on tipping and feeding my vendors, except the photographer because they are the owners. If I do decide to tip the photographers it's not going to be untiil after I see how the pictures come out. . . . . how do you know on the wedding night if the photographers did a good job????????????

Who asks for a tip???? It's standard wedding etiquette to feed the vendors, especially those who are with you all day, i.e., photographers. I can't imagine not feeding them. The last thing I need is my photographer or videographer passing out from hunger in the middle of my wedding.

You are definatly supposed to tip your vendors! Feeding them is standard and you should tip on top of it.

What I meant is: they specifically told me that they do not ask to be provided with meals because they usually 'brown bag it'. I am only sharing my own opinion. I wasn't asking for opinions on whether or not I should tip/feed the vendors. I have already made that decision.

Most of the vendors meals should be less then everyone elses'? Ours are 1/3 the price and thats the original price, not the plus grtuity service charge price, and I'm guessing we would be tipping as wel...but next question..who knows how much? This wedding stuff is KILLING me...

I agree... of course you have to tip... that would be embarassing
also it is not a matter of tipping or not..... it is a matter of how much
you tip anyone that provides service for you... photographer definately...

You didn't exactly make it clear that they specifically spoke to you about not providing a meal. You made it seem like since they didn't ask for it, you weren't giving a tip or a meal.

Yes, it does seem steep, I know they said I pay half price for the vendors they recommend, but I can't remember if it's for all vendors, or if it's just house vendors.. Of course we're not using any house vendors.. lol.. I'll ask this weekend.

I disagree. Tipping a waiter or waitress in a restaurant is expected and is standard, but it is not always included in the price. While I don't think you should tip if a job is not well done, I think that people who are working at your wedding, especially the assistants who help out, i.e., the poor schlep that carries the lights around all day following the photographer, deserve to be tipped. It is not mandatory - it is standard. Tipping anywhere is never mandatory.

I wasn't aware that it's standard to tip the owner of a business, though. I was taught (by several business owners) that it is not standard, or even common to tip a business owner...just my experience...
