I wasn't aware that it's standard to tip the owner of a business, though. I was taught (by several business owners) that it is not standard, or even common to tip a business owner...just my experience...
you are right the owner of my hair salon does my hair and i was told he doesn't accept tips but my nail lady does... so i guess it depends on the person i would ask the company

mine as well...
i will be using certain vendors who work for themselves and their rates are adjusted accordingly. if they go above and beyond, yes i will tip. but for me personally, in these circumstances, it is never a 'given'...

Yes. You are supposed to feed as well as give gratuity to the vendors . . .Many halls offer a discount for vendor meals either right off the bat or once you meet your minimum.

We have to pay 1/2 price for our vendors to eat (and after talking to a lot of them I found out that most places dont even give them the same food that the guest eat). And im tipping my vendors also along with the people who work at the mansion (like bartenders & valets and coat checks) - as long as they do a good job.

Re: Do you have to tip,and feed the vendors???
Our DJ told us that they didnt require us to feed the crew (since there is 3 or 4 guys) an actual meal but they just asked if they can eat at the coctail hour instead. He said there is no reason for you to have to feed us to work but if it is alright for us to grab soemthing at the cocktail hour we will do that instead.
I was completely fine with that and actually thought it was very thoughful of them.

Re: Do you have to tip,and feed the vendors???
Here is my understanding of tipping: You tip if the person providing the service went above and beyond You don't tip owners of businesses This is what I read in etiquitte books, not what vendors told me. I am feeding my photo and video guys since they will be with me from morning til night. I am not feeding my ceremony, cocktail hour musicians nor my DJ. My DJ is only working 5 hours, and he said that he is there to work not to take breaks. My ceremony and cocktail hour musicians are only working for 1 hour each, so if seems unfair to me to feed them.
