My brother is in the hospital with 'colonitus' I have googled it and cant find it anywhere?? If anyone know what it is, if its serious, anything, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA Jenn

I think maybe you mean Colitus. Not sure if that is spelled right, but it is an issue with the bowels. Try googling that. Sorry he is sick

my guess would be inflamation of the colon, 'itis' means swelling I hope he feels better!

Thats what I thought also Colitus, but no Colonitus?

Colitis/Colonitis/Irritible Bowel and Inflammatory Bowel are all different things but use the same diagnostic tests.

Thank you all so much, turns out it is Colitus and my brother just cant remember anything people say to him, my mom went back to othe hospital and thats what they told her. But thank you all for your help.

I was Operations/Education Manager at the Long Island Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation for four years (I left there less than two years ago and am still active in the Foundation).
I know a lot about the disease and am happy to help where I can. Ask away.
CCFA's website (as suggested by Brooklynbridezilla) is a terrific resource. There are local support groups and educational symposia which your brother (or your family) might want to take advantage of.

My Mom found a lot of information and support from CCFA. Definitely check them out.
If you need anything from a family members standpoint let me know. My Mom had Ulcerative Colitis for as long as I can remember.
