Do you know why candy-coated almonds are given in threes or fives?

A traditional wedding favor for couples of Italian, Greek or Middle Eastern heritage.
Three almonds symbolize the bride, the groom and their future baby or Christ.
Five almonds represents happiness, longevity, health, fertility, and prosperity.

Thought this might be interesting to know.

I have also heard that you use an odd number, so they cannot be divided equally - sort of a superstition that the love of the bride and groom cannot be divided.

Yep! According to tradition, Jordan Almonds represent the combination of the bitter and sweet of marriage.

Here's a poem you can use with your Jordan Almonds:

Five Jordan Almonds For You To Eat
To Remind Us That Life Is Both Bitter And Sweet
Five Jordan Almonds For The New Husband And Wife
Health, Wealth, Happiness, Longevity And Life!

Wow, thanks. I gave out five, but had no idea it meant anything.
