Do you like driving long distances?

Like 10-15 hours plus ?

My hubby loves it- I hate it. That is what planes are for.

He is talking about us doing this, I told him to go with the guys- I cannot sit in a car that long.

No.

We drove to Charleston last year and going there wasn't too bad but coming home was somewhere in the vicinty of torture at the intersection of excuciating and painful.

We even had a comfortable car and I was miserable.

I don't mind it at all. I've driven to Florida a few times with my mom and FH, and the trip isn't bad at all. One time, I actually drove the whole way, stopping only for gas. It only took about 17 hours.

I love it too. I drove to FL with my Best Friend we had so much fun. The next year my FH and I did the same trip and had so much fun!!! You sit in the car listen to CDs take in all the country fresh air. Talk. Point things out and laugh your arse off at how strange other states are!!!

Love it, as long as DH is driving.

We did the west coast...9 hours. Next we are doing the east coast..to Florida. Ideally we want to make a square around the US, and then an X through it! We want to really see the country!

That's the funny thing - so do I! But only at 4-5 hours at a time

I love it!

FH and I have gone on 2-week road trips every year for the past few years. I love the freedom, watching the scenery unfold, the not knowing where we will spend the night. It's so much fun. Plus, it's really the only way to get out and see the country. There are some amazing places that can only been seen by car. And sometimes you have to drive a long way to get there, but it's so worth it!

But mostly it is the freedom - to get out and stretch any time you want, to take an unscheduled side trip to see something interesting, to be in complete control of your travels, all things you can't do on a plane.

Love it! I'm always up for a long distance drive!

I don't mind how long it takes to drive a substantial distance. It's when it takes 2 hours to drive 30 miles on Long Island that drives me nutty!

I do... I would rather drive than fly. I love driving. There is so much to see too. One of my ultimate goals is to take a driving trip around the US.

I love it. But ten hours in the car at a time is my limit.
I've taken many road trips. I'd rather drive than fly ANY day!

Re: Do you like driving long distances?

Yes but I don't get scared in cars like I have done on planes (taking off). I've driven 12 hours to N.C. that's the most I've driven in 1 day.

Hear, hear!! I can drive for hours at a time, but being stuck in traffic drives me INSANE! When I'm sitting on the belt, or on the southern state for hours at a time I'm constantly thinking, hmm...I could have been to DC or Buffalo by now...

Re: Do you like driving long distances?

I have done my share...

I have drove across the country 4 times...and both coasts...

our longest stretch was leaving AZ at 12 noon...we finally stopped in VA at 12 midnight the next day...and only b/c of fog...but we were on a time schedule for that one...

of course I would prefer to fly...but I am so happy that I have seen so much...I also went across China by bus and train and it was really interesting to compare!!!

Jenny, you hit the nail on the head!!!!!

I hate that it takes me longer to get to the mall than it took me to drive from San Francisco to LA.

Re: Do you like driving long distances?

I like it...but my max is 6 hours. A few months ago, FH and I took the top down on his Corvette and drove to Memphis one night on the spur of the moment. It was so awesome and romantic.
But that is only 5 hours from here. 10-12 hours I would probably sleep half of it!
