Do you like the colors in your reception hall?

Do you like the colors in your reception hall?

I'm still in search of my reception hall and, though I keep looking, I still come back to this one place. For the most part, everything is perfect (excellent food, FH loves the place, guests will have fun and it is unique). BUT the one deterrance is you couldn't have the colors that you wanted because of the color of the space, would you still go for it?

I always wanted a fall wedding with earthy colors. This space would definitely not accomodate this as the rug and curtains are a mauvy pink. It's not 'ugly' but not what I've pictured, if that makes sense.

It is still on the consideration list of places to get married...but I'm just curious if anyone else has picked a place that they weren't happy with the decor and, if so...how did you deal with it?

That is so funny~I complain all the time about this. The colors are okay and match the look of the room but there is this mural on the wall of one of the rooms that just makes me cringe....

It's Killing me for some reason!!! I always pictured Sunflowers and red berries, browns and bronzes. I'm just not a pinky type of person. I talked to my mom about it and shes starting to convince me it could work. I am just not there yet.

listen the first think that you think of when you walk into my reception hall is...OMG so Green! I also had this thought in my head b/c of the colors but i loved the hall! In my opiion if you have doubts than it is not the right one for you! Ortherwise, I think it can work and who says your girls have to match the room??

I actually didn't choose one hall because of this! I told FH - 'the walls and carpet and chairs are gonna clash with my flowers' - he thought i was nuts. The colors were nice, but def. didn't really mesh with the theme I am going for!

It is true~you can have your flowers and girl in another color that compliments the room-I just like to think that no one will be looking at the color of the walls-they will be looking at us

I love my hall and it's decor! I definitely want my centerpieces to go with the feel of it. I think the hall is very neutral though, many colors would go well with it.

I hate the carpeting some of the places use! Luckily my hall is wood floors and white walls and light mint green chairs. I met with this company that helps you find a space and when we were deciding what places I would go to they did make a good point. They asked me to tell them the color of the carpet at the last wedding I went to! Of course I had no idea! The truth is only the bride notices this not the guests.

The only thing I don't like about my hall is the carpet in the lobby and in the cocktail room
1st pic is the lobby
2nd pic is cocktail room
3rd pic is the reception room

I think if you need convincing, then that isn't the place for you. I love, love, love the Watermill. There isn't a thing I would change and that's how I knew it was 'the place'.

Actually, it's funny because the Watermill wasn't my first choice, but after seeing my first choice in person I hated it and seeing the Watermill in person, I totally changed my mind and loved it.

If I were you I would keep looking...

Good Luck!!

My hall is being completely changed so I have no idea how the colors will work but I knew that no matter where I got married, I'd cover as much as I can in white because the word 'neutral' just doesn't apply to a lot of places on LI.

My room- the east wind estate is either a love it or hate kind of room- I personally LOVE it, which is why I chose it, I love the green and the pinkish/mauve in there! It is beautiful, but i know that not everyone will love it!

i say if you have concerns about it and you wont be able to stop thinking about it, then look elsewhere but if it is something that you can live with and not stress over than stay with it

My hall has gold swirl ceilings.

I was never into gold but wanted the girls in eggplant. It compliments. My flowers are going to be deep and everything will be truly jewel toned...

I actually chose a theme based upon my hall because it used to be a movie theatre. Because I loved the place enough, I altered my look...

So for me, I like it. But if you need that much convincing...maybe you really aren't feeling it!

Love my colors, the floors and chairs are dark wood, the walls are cream, the chandeliers are a netral tone, and there are big windows all around. Perfect for my colors, creams, pinks, green accents....It's got a 'clean' look about it, which is what I love. I think the ballroom is what sold it for us, just walking in, we knew.

Yes I love them. I ran into this problem a lot. Color of the room was one of my priorities, I wanted something light and a lot of the halls we saw were really dark.

Re: Do you like the colors in your reception hall?

I hate mine...FH hates when I say it, but I really don't like the decor of my room. It's too GREEN! But, compared to other places I saw, it stood out - I loved the Bridal Suite, the Gardens where the ceremony will take place, love that the CH room is so big and roomy w/ plenty of seating, and I love the reputation. I do wish I loved the ballroom more, but I know once the Day comes, w/ the CPs & candles and guets will be awesome!

If it is really going to bother you, keep looking.

If you don't feel it, don't go with it.

FH and I 'just knew' when we found our place, and luckily our room is cream and white with painted murals, which blends well with my white, silver and yellow theme. Although I know any color would have looked good with it.
