The cake that I chose is covered with fondant, which I think looks absolutely beautiful except that when I chose the cake, I had never actually tasted fondant. I went to a party this weekend and they had a fondent cake and it was terrible. The cake itself was beautiful but it seems that the cake was old and stale becase the cake party was extremely dry and the fondant seemede very hard to me. It could just be that this aprticular cake was not fresh or it could also be that it is just how the fondant is. I don''t want a gross wedding cake. Do you like fondant or think its gross?

Fondant typically doesn't taste too good (though I know people posted exceptions here), but it looks much smoother, and it holds up better in the heat if you're having an outdoor wedding

I dont usually like it. I personally find it too sugary for me. I like buttercream better

It's def not on a tasty scale. It's really just to make the cake look and appear flawless. My baker def recommended buttercream over fondant for our wedding. I was worried that the cake would melt since we had an outdoor summer wedding, luckily the buttercream didn't melt and it hold up. Our cake was delicious, we had a 3-tier winter white cake with raspberry preserves w/ lemon buttercream. I def don't recommend covering your cake in fondant even if it's for the looks, it's a bit of a hassle & time consuming to get the fondant removed from the cake when served to guests.

I hate the way it tastes but LOVE the way it looks. I just peel it off and eat the cake with the butter cream underneath

I do not like fondant or buttercream. I find that they both leave a bad taste in my mouth BUT I am very picky about my food.

I never had fondant before my wedding and I have to say the fondant on Audrey's cakes taste exactly like SUGAR, some guests ate the fondant and some peeled it off. The cake we had was moist and delicious, I saw some guests asking for seconds and thirds. I think it depends on who you get the cake from, when you call for your appointment I would ask if they can give you a sample of how their fondant tastes.
