or did you pick it based on practicality, price, etc
Just wondering if it's worth a slight splurge or upping the budget a little to find a place I LOVE rather than pick a place that works but I don't love. Not that its not possible to find a place that works within your budget, but I'm not having much luck finding a place that makes me excited and I've seen a lot of places already.
Anyway, TIA for your honesty and help!

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
it was the second to last place we checked out, and we absolutely LOVE it. Like a few of you mentioned, we picked places within our budget, doing research before wasting our time.
However, if money wasn't an option I would have chosen Sand Castle, but price per person averages at $150!

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
YES! We looked at RHs all weekend, saw about 10...Westbury Manor was the 2nd one we saw, and every RH we went to I compared it to WM...it just fits the 'feel' I wanted for my December wedding. Larkfield Manor offered us a much better deal, but I knew I would always be thinking about WM. We got the price down, but not as much as LM would have! In the end, I wanted to be happy, and we are still in our budget!

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
We stopped our search the minute we walked in and looked around! It's BEAUTIFUL! Definitely on the higher end of what we wanted to spend but we both agree that it's worth it.
So far they have been more than accomodating answering our questions and always being on point. I look forward to every visit...even if that means we are dropping off a payment!

I LOVE it! It fits my personality perfectly and fit within my budget. Part of me wishes I had a skylight but I get that for my ceremony so its win-win!

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
I am in love with the Ballroom at BYC and couldn't be happier!
I also loved the Inn at New Hyde park. The bridal suit is amazing and the upstairs cocktail hour is so cool! Oh and the bathrooms.
But BYC worked in our budget and I am so happy with it. When my mother and I looked we thought it would be out of budget, but it wasn't!
FH loved cresent beach club, b/c he loves the beach.

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
For us, our RH was the most important part of the planning process and were very picky about the place we chose. However, price was a huge factor. We could not pick our first choice which was the North Ritz Club because it was too expensive for the time we wanted to get married. Woodbury was our 2nd choice and we are so happy we are getting married there. Not only is it beautiful but they gave us an outrageous deal!!!

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
I love our venue and when we first looked at it in 2010 for Sept. 2011 we thought we were getting a good price. However after reviewing budget more we realized we needed to cut things back a bit. In March 2011 we went to see another place that had a package with a price that was right. The place was nice but I did not love it. Later that day we went back to Fox Hollow and ended up getting the same price as the other place and booked on the spot. We just moved our wedding to March instead of the summer months so we could afford the place we loved.

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
I love my venue. Everytime I go there i fall more in love with it. It's very elegant and within FH and I's budget. Only thing we settled on was having it on a Friday instead of a Saturday. Is it my dream place? NO. My dream wedding would have been in a nice Hacienda to go along with my Mexican theme wedding. But my wedding venue is definently 2nd place!!!

yes, we LOVE it!!!!! BUTTTT we also only looked at places within our budget ~ im sure i could love many a place lolol!
if the place you love is within reach, go for it. BUT i def wouldnt extend myself beyond my means. you can get an idea of what RH's cost beforehand so that you can narrow down your choices

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
Yes, I definitely love my venue. I had a close second that was definitely more reasonable but there were things about it I wasn't crazy about. By picking a date in early spring (and a friday the 13th) I was able to get a good price at my venue, and with the extra things I would have wanted at the 2nd choice (ie lamp chops at cocktail hour and filet minon on dinner menu was standard at Land's End but extra per person at my 2nd choice), it worked out that my first choice was the better deal with everything we were getting. :)
That was probably a run-on sentence. But I think still readable and I'm too lazy to correct it right now.

We love our venue. We actually liked all of what we saw. But we loved the one and it was soEthing we didnt expect. We were originally looking for more modern but changed our minds. It was a lil over our hall budget but we are cutting in other places. You can always make it work for you

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
I like it I would LOVE to have it somewhere else that is completely out of reach, but of all the halls here on Long Island it fit our needs the best.

Russo's? Absolutely worth it! as I mentioned earlier, if I had more of a budget, I would look at more places. Your place is the cam of the crop.

Re: do you LOVE your wedding venue?
thank you all for your responses!
my budget is somewhat flexible but also not extravagant so I have a little wiggle room but its just tough cause on one hand I want to love it, its my one day...but on the other hand, its just a room and as long as the food is good, people will be happy and it shouldn't break the bank.
i like an open grand look - think angel oresanz in manhattan or williamsburg savings bank in brooklyn without the 17,000 and 15,000 site fees respectively. i also can't do friday night because we are both Jewish and need a kosher-style option for a menu, so practical is interfering with romantic a lot at this point.
still searching for a place that is somewhat budget friendly that I can be excited about...thanks again!
