Do you need to get centerpieces for rehearsal dinner?

I was expecting to do a no frills casual dinner the night before our wedding. From reading, I see that some girls are going all out for their RD.

Should it be more of a welcoming dinner that sets the tone for the wedding?

i mean, you don't have to but if you want to this (above) is a nice idea-- i might do something similar... maybe a DIY project.

Our restaurant provided a small bo-q of sorts for each end of the table. Nothing too fancy, but more of a decoration.
