FH and I are wondering if we really need a rehearsal dinner, as we are getting married at the RH and there won't be any rehearsal the night before...
We are basically paying for the wedding ourselves, and can't really afford anything nice, so we thought is it better to do nothing that do something cheesy?
Who gets invited to the RD? Immediate family and the BP, but do you have to invite OOT guests? That will get expensive very quickly.
Is anyone else NOT doing a rehearsal dinner?

We are completely skipping the dinner since there is no rehearsal.

We're not inviting OOT'ers but TECHNICALLY your supposed to.
We're inviting BP w/dates (only sig. others and spouses), parents, readers, flower girls and ring bearers and their parents.
(somehow this is coming out to 40 people )

Maybe if money is an issue you can have a BBQ if it's still warm out by that time or have a get together at your house with catered food. Usually its the BP, Readers, and OOT's plus their dates.

We are not doing a 'rehearsal' dinner.
But. We are getting my immediate family and his immediate family and MOH & her husband/GM together for dinner the night prior. Both families hardly EVER get together (live in different cities) so we wanted Friday night's dinner to only be us. Everyone understands.

No RD for us either. We are paying for the wedding on our own and there's no rehearsal - why give ourselves a bigger hole in our pockets.

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
We aren't having a rehearsal. We are having dinner at whichever house FH's dad decides to rent for the weekend of the wedding. We will prob have in catered really cheap, like a big hero and sides or trays of Italian food or something. FH said pizza, but I'd rather a hero than pizza. LOL. It will just be the people staying at that house and any other OOT guests who came up the day before instead of the day of. I wanted to include those people who decided to make the trip a day early and not be late for the wedding.

We're not doing a rehersal.. just a quick run through before the ceremony...
but our 'rehersal' dinner is Thanksgiving... so all the family will be gathered anyway... and we will invite anyone who's in... (but I think that is like 4 people!)

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
We are not having one. We are having the bp including out parents come to our suite the night before the wedding to give them their gifts. We are going to have some light food and drinks there. Most of our guests are from OOT so I cant see having something for just the bp and not invite all of them. It could easily turn into another wedding with the amount of people we have

We are just having everyone back to FH's moms house for food. RH was so expensive for us..although I really want one

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
We're not having a traditional rehearsal dinner because our RH doesn't do them (they do it 30 minutes before the ceremony... ).
I'm a little paranoid and on a budget so we're inviting the BP over FH's parent's home and doing a small run through/line up there. Afterwards we're just going to have a BBQ in the backyard and give their gifts. Me and my FSIL will probably cook. We love BBQ's! We're not inviting other people...just the BP and their spouses if they want to come and our parents.

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
nope-we probably won't have one. if anything; it will just be an informal dinner at either of our parents house (or maybe ours) a few nights before to gift our BP their gifts. But no real rehersal and dinner out at a restaurant. We're paying for everything ourselves...need to save where ever we can!

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
We had no rehearsal and decided to do take-out at our house the night before. We got fajitas by the pound & salad from our local tex-mex place and bought a bucket o' Margaritas from costco. We had our immediate family, bp and OOT guests only. There were about 20 - 25 people. It was so relaxing. Paper cups, paper plates. Everyone just shoved everything in to a garbage bag & helped tidy up. No stress. No one had to get dressed up. Everybody relaxed, ate and enjoyed themselves. Wouldn't have changed a thing!

Re: Do you need to have a rehearsal dinner?
Great question! I was wondering the same thing as we are basically in the same boat: paying for wedding ourselves andceremony is in reception hall... In speaking with the pastor he said we will just do a quick run through before the ceremony...plus our ceremony will be short and sweet...
Plus we are getting married the weekend after Thanksgiving so theres not many days in between or around to play with....
