Do you or will you call your (F)MIL/ (F)FIL mom and dad?

Do you or will you call your (F)MIL/ (F)FIL mom and dad?

and how did that come about? did they ask you to call them that? and what does your dh/fh call (or will call) your parents?

I call my MIL by her first name and I don't call my FIL anything!! I guess if I did it would be Mr.M.

My DH calls my mom and dad by their first names.....

I was just talking to my parents about that Saturday. I felt a little uncomfortable but they insisted that they have no problem with me calling the in-laws Mom/Dad and my husband calling my parents Mom/Dad too.

Hubby calls them Papa and Mama so I think I'll do the same. It's easier and I feel better, not replacing the special significance of what 'Mom' or 'Dad' means to me.

No.. I don't feel comfortable with that at all. We rarely even see them (maybe 3-4x a year).
My DH sees my parents all the time and he calls them by their first names.

I call my IL's by their first names. And come to think of it I've never heard DH call my parents anything!

I don't feel comfortable calling my soon to be in-laws mom and dad. I will probably call them by their first names. FH dosent call my mom anything and he calls my dad 'chief' (It just came out one day and stuck)

i still call them mr & mrs kelly even though they always refer to themselves, sign cards, etc with their first names. i will call them by their first names but no way 'mom' and 'dad'. that's reserved for my mom and dad and that's it. i guess i'm just not close with them and my parents mean the world to me and even if they said it didn't bother them, i'd feel disrespectful somehow. i dunno. just me.

I call them both by their fist name, and FH does the same for my parents. I would never feel comfortable calling them mom and dad because I am not super close with them.

I'm sticking with their first names... I don't think I'd be comfortable calling them mom and dad. I'm positive fh isn't comfortable with calling my mother, mom either.

I call them both Mom and Dad now. There was no formal request, it just felt natural.

I think I will...My FH already calls my mom mom and while I will always only have one 'real' mother and father, I think I would feel more uncomfortable calling them by their 1st names....JMO

My FMIL actually just emailed me on Firday asking me not to call her Mrs. K anymore...lol. She asked me to call her mom or Joan. I don't know I don't know if I feel comfortable calling her mom, so i'll probably just call her by Joan.

FH still calls my mom Mrs. R. He actually just emailed her to see if she wanted him to call her by her first name.

FH and I both use first names with each others parents.

I call my FH mom and dad by thier first name and his step mom by her first name his step dad I call pops thats how I was introduced to them so thats what I call them. FH calls my mom, mom and my dad by his first name

First names all around. Neither of us is close enough with the other's parents to call them mom and dad, but Mr & Mrs is too formal for family (and my parents would never allow that)

I love my in-laws so much, but they are NOT my parents, IMO I think it’s disrespectful to my mom & dad who raised me. NO matter how great my in- laws are (and they are pretty great) But as I see it they were not the ones who were their when I was sick as a baby or who took me to my first day of school. So I do & will continue to call them by their first name.


ETA: and FH also calles my parents my their first names.

I call them mom and dad and it feels completely weird - my mom is ok with it.... FH calls my mom 'Mom' but so does most of my friends and my siblings' friends.

They requested I call them mom and dad. I was calling them Mr and Mrs... like i do with everyone else's parents. It would have been really awkward to refuse their request. As weird as it is... it does help with the being part of the family feeling.

FH calls my mom by her first name and my stepdad by first name. He calls my dad Dr. Liotta because everybody does, and he calls my step-mother by her first name.

I call his mom and step-dad by their first names, some times I call her mom in law to be to joke around.

We really haven't decided on what we are calling each others parents yet.
