Do you pay hair, makeup, and a gift to your bridesmaids?
Or do you just give a gift and have them pay for the other stuff themselves?
I'm really confused, as I thought originally they didn't want makeup done, but now all of a sudden are asking me if I booked that stuff for them...
Am I supposed to collect money from them? It seems awkward...

I find this pretty awkward myself. I will be getting them gifts but not paying for hair/makeup. I will be paying for my mothers and possibly mother in laws. I think i'm going to send a mass email to the girls asking if they want their hair and makeup done, the price for each service, and when the money is due for the services. I'm not forcing them to do either so it's up to them. I feel weird collecting money.. but if i was a bridesmaid I would have no problem paying for my own hair and makeup so i guess it's not that big of a deal, right?

I'm doing a gift but not hair/makeup. I know when I've been a bridesmaid I've paid for my own hair once, but not the other time, and I've done my own makeup both times.

I would send an email telling them the rate for make up and ask if they want it done?? Some may say yes! I've been a BM in 2 weddings and I got my make up done with the girls (I paid) since I can't do my own that well. I am going to pay for make up as part of their gift just b/c I thought it was different & helps them out somewhat with the cost of stuff lol.

I have been in weddings where I had to pay for my own hair/makeup or they paid partial hair. Do what you can afford!! I will be buying them gifts instead.

If you can afford to pay for all of that then it would be nice but usually a gift as a token of your appreciation is usually all thats required

Every wedding I've ever been in I paid for my own hair and make up. My BP will paying for their own as well. I am buying them all sorts of gifts for being in my wedding.

same here
send them an email with the rates and then see how many want to be 'booked' - give them a deadline to get back to you (e.g. whenever the hair /mu people need to know) - for me, i had to finalize about 2 weeks before the wedding
honestly, once the girls knew the price, a lot of them backed off of the makeup bandwagon and did their own but most got their hair done and they took care of it themselves - just remind them to bring cash!
