Do you plan on feeding the vendors?

Original post by KimberlyBride

I didn't even think of this. My BM sent me an email asking if I planned on feeding them. If so where are they sitting? If not are they just eating at the cocktail hour?

We are the vendors the hall recs are free and non's are 1/2 price. My entire band is eating free so I just have to feed the photo & ***. I think that's it. They will be set up in the c-tail room or the restaurant/bar area next to the reception room. I don't care, sit down enjoy!

I want happy, fed vendors not starving, grumpy vendors.

Not to be a b!*@h but when I was a waitress we got to eat. We would take our break and eat @ the bar. I can't imagine working all night 7-8 even 10 hours and not eating. I wouldn't be able to function. But I also eat all day long!

I fed my vendors!
It just the DJ's and the photo/video guys.
I caught the Duet team eating while the guests were eating dinner in the CH room because no one was in there.

I fed mine. I didn't think it was fair to have them there all day with no food (at least that was true for the photographers). Bringing food isn't really an option (where do they store it), and it seems mean to dive into prime rib, etc. while they are eating PB & J. I used to organize many events for a past job, and we always got fed somehow.

As for where, my place set up a small table for them in a room off of the reception room. It was a nice room, not a large closet or a kitchen. We were told half price, though we were charged full price and going back and forth with the place over it now. For any brides still visiting halls, ask them to include this in your contract if it is not there when you sign. It wasn't in ours, and the person who booked our reception left.

You nailed exactly what I was thinking...from the not wanting grumpy vendors....to being a waitress.

a good friend of mine actually owns the co that is one of my vendors....(he of course is a guest) But through the yrs he has told me about a few times that he and his people were not feed...he told me about one particular day in which they did an afternoon wedding and an evening wedding back to back...and neither bride paid for them to eat. at the 2nd wedding they were so hungry...(and they had no time to stop on the way to the 2nd wedding) the matre'd at the 2nd wedding wouldn't even give them rolls left over from the cocktail hr...he jst kept telling them that the bride and groom did not pay for them to eat. My friend got so pi$$ed that he called for a pizza delivery for his staff....which really ticked off the reception hall....oh well!!! people gotta eat. and you can't assume that the vendors will eat at the cocktail hr....because 1 the reception hall may not allow them to eat if you didnt pay for it...and 2 your band or dj is usually setting up during the cocktail hr.

A good suggestion I actually got from a hall I looked at was if I was on a tight budget I could have a deli platter set up. If your strapped for $ I would at least suggest having a platter of deli meats and rolls 4 them to make a sandwich. Hay at the end of the night I'd probably offer them to have a drink. It's a party for gods sake.

Absolutely! And there will be a separate, smaller table for them to sit at if they prefer.

They deserve to be happy as a clam just like the rest of us do.....

yep- I think you have to feed them. I'm sure they will be discreet about it. Vinny from High Voltage already told me that he eats at his booth, and no one can see behind it.

You do have to feed them, but its not up to you to worry about where when how etc.

It's actually up to the individual person wheater they choose to eat they are adults and can figure that out. We plan on feeding our vendors we were told by the hall which was fine I guess. I asked where they would sit and was told that a small table would be set up next to the DJ area for the vendors to eat at since I will only have 4 and they don't really sit and eat for very long at all!!! I took notice at the last wedding I went to that they all really ate during the cocktail hour towards the end. Since most of the pictures are done and the bridal party is taking a break they got about 20 mins to take a break and ate very well and sat together as if they were guests during the cocktail hour. They never really had much time during the meal to eat. The DJ just ate at his lil stand because he still had to play his music.

As a p/t Vndr - i must say i sincerely appreciated having a meal. I did not take foreever to eat, but i did sit for a total of 10 min to eat something as i needed the energy. The affair lasted from 10am until 2am the NEXT DAY Now that i see both sides , a bride's side & now on the other side, i understand the cost factor, yet the thought was appreciated when a meal was offered.
