Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
I was actually thinking of that today, as one of my aunts is in hospice out in Melville and my other aunt died on X-mass of this year.....i was thinking of giving my uncles a rose or something in remembrance of my aunts during the ceremony?

During my wedding ceremony I did acknowledge our grandparents that past away. I also put a dedication to them on my program.

We originally were going to name them, but FHs best friend passed last year and we think it will upset MANY people that will be there so we have changed our minds to just mention those that couldnt be with us
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We are just going to have a memorial candle burning at the reception with pictures of all those who passed away.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
yes - specifically my grandparents and his grandmother
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
I think we will mention FH's grandfather who recently passed, especially since we're both upset he wont be able to be there to share our day.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We will have our grandparents mentioned as well as my good friend that passed away on 9/11.

My brother is doing the prayer of the faithful and I'm going to provide a list of the names of our grandparents who have passed on.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We are not having a church ceremony with any prayers, but our officiant will mention that there are loved ones we wish could be with us that have passed on. There are just too many (unfortunately) to name.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We plan on doing it specific for those close to us (grandparents, my uncle, FH's good friend) and general (the military, FDNY). We're also adding the names in the program.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
It's really just my relatives and yes I plan on naming them. It will be my grandparents, my uncle and maybe my friend. I am not going to name all of my parent's Aunts and Uncles, then it will get too crazy. But yes, I plan on naming those 4 or 5 people.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We don't plan on recognizing anyone during the ceremony because we thought it would be too depressing. We'll probably have a candle for them somewhere in the reception room.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We are going to specifically name them. It is very important to us that they are acknowledged that day...it will help us feel like they are there!
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
I am having a memory candle with a poem and my family member's names on it and the same poem and names will be in the programs. I think that, if the preist allows it, we'll have their names read.
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
Absolutely! We are having the names (FH's mom and our grandparents) read during the Prayers of the Faithful. We are also having the priest offer up the Mass (during the consecration) to FH's mother. We are also listing everyone's name in the back of the program. We are also mentioning that the flowers left at Mary's altar are in memory of FH's mom....
Re: Do you plan on naming people close to you that have died?
We only specifically named my Dad and the Grandparents. Then we added, and all other family and friends.
