Do you plan to pay for your children's wedding? The whole thing? A set contribution? Will your answer depend on whether you have a son or a daughter? Will you expect to have a say in their decisions?
just curious

I think that we will contribute a set amount (same for boy or girl) I think it's easier to say ' here's $10,000 for the wedding' and they can distribute it as needed.
As for college, I will absolutely be helping as much as I can but as finances allow...these days are tough!

I will definitely try to give them as much as we can. There is no way we will pay for the whole thing, but we will help out as much as we can.

My parents are paying for my wedding. My mom doesn't expect to have a say in the wedding (Well with the amount of people she does) but I ask her all the time for her opinions and stuff relating to the wedding. I took her along for our appointments and such.

I will help my children the best that I can. I will try my best to give them all the same amount. However, I do know that times can change through the years and one child may benefit slightly more than another.

Absolutely not! I will pay for my daughter's dress, help with a downpayment for a home and that's it.
FH and I are paying for everything- wedding and home on our own...and it's a great experience. I expect my children to have careers and earn what they get.

If I could afford to...I would pay for it. That being said...I'm not planning to see have kids. We'll see about FH's two. If I like then when they get married...I'll give as much as I can. LOL

Re: Do you plan to pay for your children's wedding?
i will do what i can for my children. my parents were generous to pay for a part of our wedding. and we were so grateful for any contribution because the wedding was freakin expensive!
they threw us our engagement party and my mom gave a beautiful bridal shower. it is overwhelming to see that they kept giving in these ways.
I hope one day i can do the same for my kids. i do think that paying for most of the wedding yourself (as we did) is a good idea--it definitely builds budgeting skills and gets the couple familiar with saving and spending money from both their incomes together as one.

When the time comes to it, I'll do what I can. Like all parents I'd love to pay for the whole thing but if the average wedding costs $30,000 today I'd really hate to think what it'll cost by the time my children get married.

Re: Do you plan to pay for your children's wedding?
I do plan on HELPING my son and any other children I have pay for their wedding. I will give each of them a set amount of money as a gift to help pay for their wedding. FH and I are paying for our wedding totally on our own and it feels insanely impossible sometimes, but it's what we have to do. Seeing how hard it is, I don't want to do that to them, but I also will not give them a blank check to run wild with either lol.
